This one is a weird one to react to. On one hand, I actually thought Billy Joe looked really good before the 8th. On the other, the first major moment of adversity was enough to stop the fight. He was making Canelo miss more than I'd seen in a long while, and keeping it competitive despite the power shots through an active jab, good movement, plus the occasional combination.
I think this was shaping up for a real interesting finish until the orbital bone breaking uppercut(? I think that was the punch) took Billy out. Credit to Canelo for the one punch power, but Billy did give him some issues in there IMO. The blueprint is still there to give Canelo a tough fight, I'm just not sure anyone will do better than this at 168. Plant fight will at least be more interesting than Callum Smith though.
