R1- It’s peculiar that Simon gets another title shot after two back to back blemishes, including a fifth round stoppage loss in his previous bout. Simon is circling and pawing with the jab, while Louis is stalking and setting up right hands. A 1-2 buckles Simon. As Simon tries his best to hold, Louis is able to push him off and score with power shots to the face until he slips to the canvas after overextending with a right. I liked when Louis slipped a pair of jabs while going backwards late in the round.

R2- Louis slips a jab and counters with a left hook, sending Simon staggering into the ropes. From there, it becomes target practice for Louis. Simon proves to be nothing but hittable, as Louis is able to hurt him numerous times with right hands. Several of the times where Simon gets close enough to land, he is still taking jabs to the face. After being rocked yet again by a right late, Simon is put to his knees by a cross. The bell saves him, preventing a count as well. Great round for the champion.

R3- Simon comes out determined, but is too sloppy and uncoordinated to have any kind of success. The face of Simon is a sucker for the jab of Louis, who is potshotting right hands and left hooks to good, effective success, and remaining unscathed as well. Commentary states that Simon lost a point for low blows, but they are not shown in the round’s existing footage.

R4- Via mauling on the ropes and smothering more of Louis’ offense than any of the other rounds, Simon has his best round of the fight, but it’s still not one he wins. Louis is still outlanding him two to one and keeping him walking into the jab. A left uppercut-right hook combo lands for Louis at the bell.

R5- Louis has been the only one in range to jab all night due to shoulder control. A right cross buckles Simon before a left hook sends him reeling. Louis is on him right away, hammering him with crosses and left hooks. Simon shows guts and resilience, but the crushing power of Louis is wearing him down blow by blow. A pair of crosses and a left hook stagger Simon into the ropes, causing his back to turn. The ref honestly should have stopped it here, but Louis then continues to batter him before finally putting the valiant Simon down with a brutal looping right. Simon is saved by the bell again. Unlike last time, it appears as if he wouldn’t beat the count, whereas he got up quickly last time. Such a one-sided round that i am honestly gonna score it 10-7 in favor of Louis. The bout should have been stopped in between rounds.

R6- With both eyes bloody and the cobwebs not shaken from his head, Simon is miserably laid out for the sixth and final time in his two bouts with Louis after being jolted by a vicious cross-left hook-cross combination. Simon shouldn’t have been in there or made it out of round five, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy seeing The Brown Bomber at work, dishing out one of the most relentless beatdowns of his career. I did feel bad for Simon though, and I hope he enjoyed the rest of his life after this.
