Re: Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk Scorecard by...
Rounds 1 and 2 were nip and tuck but easy to score. Round 3 was a great round for Usyk. Round 4 like 1 and 2 didn't have a lot in it but were still easy to score. Round 5 was close but Joshua probably did the most damage with that body shot. Round 6 was a great round for Joshua and where he had his only sustained success, a picture-perfect straight right landed on the point of Usyk's chin, followed up by a sequence of looping rights that also landed flush. Uysk did well to keep his composer and showed a great chin. Round 7 was an amazing statement round for Usyk, instantly recovered, and after that raggedy 6th, he started fast and took the play away from AJ. Round 8 was another close round, I edged it to AJ because I felt he did just a bit more damage. Usyk largely controlled round 9 but you could make case for AJ stealing with that wicked body shot near the end that had Usyk clinching for the only time in the contest. Rounds 10-11 were rugged rounds where despite both sustaining damages Usyk clearly got the better of the exchanges. Round 12 both went for the knockout and Usyk almost got it, not quite a 10-8 round but a definitive punctuation finish for the clear winner.
