Gennady Golovkin is one of the best boxers on the planet, he has been very dominant at Middleweight for some time now, many believe he beats every Middle, e weight in the planet, I disagree, I personally believe he comes second best against Miguel Cotto and Saul Canelo Alvarez, I would love for all you fans put there to chime in and give your opinion on this fight, it has been me and one other EOTR judge arguing about it for so long now, and I would love to get more opinions on it, more importantly, it has been suggested by a scorer on this site (vock42) that Miguel is running scared of Gennady, I think that is not true at all, and it is just not a fight that has been made yet, this another think I want to get more opinions on, one thing is for sure, the Middleweight division is exciting.
Well, overall my biggest problem is Cotto has a middleweight belt and the defacto #1 established middleweight contender is right there and he doesn't fight him. If that is not running scared then nothing really is. Today at the weigh ins Cotto weighed in at a trim & ready 153.5 . This to me tells me A. Cotto is basically a light middleweight that has never weighed more then 155 at weigh ins and never at 170 for a fight as far as I know. There are alot of factors, Cotto's heart or skill are not the factors really, but I would say yes he is certainly sidestepping a fight with Golovkin and will continue to do so...... now to my other point about today, Canelo's weight. He looked about the same as he usually does. Looked like a guy who cut an ass load of weight. I have seen it first hand from wrestling. Really at this point, no matter what happens tomororow, I am more upset with Alvarez and Oscar and how they are babying Canelo and saying that he is not big enough for 160 (lie). With Cotto he has given the fans plenty to watch and I won't throw shit at him for not wanting to fight a bigger guy. The Alvarez-Golovkin fight needs to happen and if it is not in the next 2 1/2 years then I would start saying Alvarez is ducking Golovkin.
The thing is, these kind of situations can be complicated, the real truths about why fights us fans want to happen do not happen are complicated, it is not necessarily because either one of the two boxers don't want to fight each other, it can be because of promotional problems, certain people trying to stop it for whatever reasons, mandatory reasons, at kinds of reasons, sometimes it is because one fighter is avoiding the other, but in this case, Miguel has made it very clear that he is eager to train with Freddie, and leave the fight organising and opponent picking to the people who are paid to do it, like Golovkin, he will fight anyone, he was not reluctant to face Canelo (one of the best in the planet), and I didn't think his reaction was any different when asked about Golovkin, we can never know why exactly they haven't fought, but I'm very confident that Cotto and Golovkin are just two fighters who could fight each other, would fight each other, but just have not had the opportunity.
About the weight, I concur, Cotto is not a natural Middleweight, he calmly admits it, he is not in denial, and to be honest, forget not being a Middleweight, I think Canelo would be comfortable at Super Middleweight, he weighed 165 for the Mayweather fight, I think Canelo is an extremely protected fighter, mainly protected by Oscar, I think he would be up for fighting Golovkin, and I would pick him to win, but I do agree that it is likely he may be hidden from GGG.

I would like to hear some new opinions since me and Champion97 have discussed it loads. Alvarez seemed enthusiastic to fight GGG but I think he will lose.
