R1- Marciano is crowding Louis constantly and mostly working off of the short overhand right. A solid overhand connects for Marciano before the bell, but Louis takes it well.

R2- After missing with a right, Marciano follows up with a left hook that gets Louis going backwards. The body attack on the inside has improved by Marciano throughout. A left-right-left hook combo connects for Marciano, who ends the round with a clean overhand. Definitely a good round for The Brockton Blockbuster .

R3- Louis finally gets his jab working and is now competing, if not edging Marciano on the inside now. Despite not throwing really any crosses in this fight, Louis does catch Marciano coming in a couple times with short rights. Marciano gets in a few roundhouse rights, but his moments of success come too far in between for him to win the round.

R4- Louis scores well with the jab for the first half or more and slams some right hooks to the body. When the fight moves on the inside, Louis gets the better of it with his uppercuts and superior defense. A left hook lands at the bell for The Brown Bomber.

R5- The jab is landing for Louis still, but so is the left hook, as the left hand of Louis has created a cut under Marciano’s right eye. Louis is showing solid defense, using his gloves, footwork, and jab to either evade or catch Marciano’s offense. Despite Louis building a good momentum in rounds three through five, the remaining rounds of his career would be anything but good to him.

R6- This round is not on film, but Marciano is said to have regained control.

R7- A counter right lands for Louis early, but nothing seems to be behind it. It scores nonetheless, but Marciano lands a stronger lead right soon after; then a left hook, then another right. Marciano has successfully utilized his own right uppecut in the pocket, and his crouch, despite being an offensive posture has kept him under more shots from Louis than in the previous rounds.
R8- Marciano is pressuring and looking for the overhand right. However, a lead left hook is what first drops Louis, sending him to the seat of his pants a distance away. As Marciano follows up, another left hook lands. Left another dazes Louis, one more left hook and an overhand right send Louis crashing through the ropes and onto the ring mat. The count is waived by the referee. While this was a devastating finish for Marciano, it is tragic seeing such an important legend like Joe Louis go out in such an unfortunate way. Of course this is not nearly as unfortunate as the debt he would fall into before his death. It also is unfortunate that these two legends had to meet at such different times in their career. I do give Marciano slight credit for this win (I definitely respect the way he went about it), but I personally see Louis outboxing Marciano by UD if both are in their primes.
