R1- Definite feel-out round. Charlo is the only one scoring with his jab or even landing anything behind it.

R2- Due to Yorgey ducking low, Charlo lands a right to the top of the head, a real borderline shot that causes Yorgey to stagger to the other side of the ring. Before he can stop moving, Charlo cuts him off and drops him with a left hook. Yorgey is on his knee until the count of nine and pleads “behind the head”. Charlo follows up quick and Yorgey goes down to a knee again. This time appeared to be due to not having sturdy legs, as Charlo’s shot clearly missed. Yorgey survives the round, but not without getting tagged with several left hooks and looping rights thrown with dangerous intentions.

R3- Seeing the jab of Charlo move back the head of Yorgey gives the impression that Charlo’s power is too much. Yorgey getting buckled again early by a right is a greater testament to this theory. Throughout, Charlo tattoos him more with the jab, while potshotting power shots in between in another good round for him.

R4- A 1-1-2 through the guard stagggers Yorgey. He recovers faster than the previous times he was hurt, but is still getting outjabbed, outgunned, and outclassed.

R5- It’s very clear that Yorgey is only intent on surviving now, as he is mostly covering up and moving without punching. A right hook to the body seems to make Yorgey’s glove to the canvas, but the ref says no knockdown. Either way two things are clear: Yorgey’s balance is terrible, and Charlo steals the round off volume alone.

R6- A right cross staggers Yorgey again. Wisely, Charlo digs to his body due to Yorgey covering up. Charlo gets in another impactful right cross soon after, and does perhaps his best body work of the fight in this round.

R7- Charlo is throwing and scoring with 2-3 punch combos from the getgo. A right hand buzzes Yorgey for the umpteenth time, but Charlo remains patient and continues to pile up points, rather than waste energy.

R8- After eating a jab, Yorgey moves directly into a mean right cross from Charlo, that puts him on his knees before he sinks to all fours. Kenny Bayless seems so astonished that he doesn’t even pick up the count till it is at seven. Yorgey rises unsteadily and clearly out of it, staggering into the ropes, forcing the fight to be stopped. Great performance by Jermell and one of his more underrated KO’s, and it was clear that he had natural power despite his low KO percentage at the time.
