R1- Neither is very busy at all, but I believe Crawford dictated the pace and was able to outjab Postol from both stances. Postol does land one clean right, but Crawford does tag him with some body shots whenever close enough. If I heard right, both were credited with landing the same amount of shots, but I question that and consider Crawford to have done the more eye-catching work anyway.

R2- The two are still being patient and feeling eachother out, and Crawford is getting the better of things with his long body shots from the outside. Crawford backs Postol off of him with a counter left towards the end, but Postol takes it well.

R3- Both are throwing a lot of feints and trying to trap eachother. Crawford especially seems to be attempting to walk Postol into something with all the angles he shows in his movement, but Postol is not falling for it. I feel this is the first round that Postol was able to have success eith his jab during, but even moreso with his right hand, which gets to the target several times in the round. A sequence occurs where Postol lands a right, then counters a body shot from Crawford with a jab before landing it again. In the last thirty seconds, Postol is able to land numerous clean rights on Crawford. Good round for Postol, certainly his best and one that made it seem as if it’d be a long night for Crawford. However, that would not be the case, as the remainder of the fight would be a lot worse for him.

R4- Crawford lands a hard left hand upstairs that seems to have Postol feeling vindictive, only for him to take a right hook and another clean left in response. We also see Crawford making it rough in the clinch for Postol, and continue to dictate the range and pace throughout. While Postol does land a few rights, Crawford is doing better work with his own right hand in the form of the lead hook, and lands more as well better shots without a doubt.

R5- Instantaneously, Crawford puts Postol on a knee with a right hook to the head for a flash knockdown. Rather than pouncing on him like the pure killer we know today, Crawford instead moves around and tries to set something up to put Postol down again. This strategy proves to be effective, as he cracks Postol on the chin with a hard counter left hand, making Postol turn and literally run away before his legs give in, making him crash on all fours. Certainly the more damaging of the two knockdowns, and both of which are the first two that Postol suffered in his pro career. Crawford appears to coast for the rest of the round and land something short here and there, but it is still an obviously dominant and pivotal round for him.

R6- Postol gets in a right hand early, only for Crawford to back him off with a harder left hand. Crawford is having Postol chase him to no avail, catching him with lead lefts to the head and midsection to pile up points. Postol shows frustration in the closing seconds when he stiffens himself up, dropping his arms.

R7- Clearly content to box, Crawford is still outpacing, outworking, and outscoring the seemingly lost Postol. The 2’s and 3’s are doing the scoring for Bud, whether one at a time or back to back. Postol is simply unable to close the gap or cut Crawford off.

R8- The audience is mislead twice when Postol staggers at the beginning of the round by a hook that misses and cuffs the back of his head, pushing him, and later when he is seemingly rocked by an accidental rabbit punch. The crowd boos, and there seems to be a whole minute-length period where no punch is landed. Nonetheless, Postol is hopelessly pawing with the jab, while Crawford lands his counters at will.

R9- In the opening moments, Postol increases his output slightly, only for every single shot to be blocked or parried away by Crawford. This causes his output to reduce to a tedious amount. Crawford is still confusing Postol, and has virtually beaten him mentally already. A 1-2 hurts Postol late and has him on retreat mode after, but he manages to survive. Towards the end, Postol lands what compubox credits to he the only punch that he got in.

R10- Postol comes out with more intent and has limited success eith his jab, but he quickly backs off. This allows Crawford to keep throwing him off with his lateral movement, discourage him from committing, and keep him walking into occasional left hands and right hooks.

R11- Crawford is making the still tentative Postol pay for committing by countering him with 2-3 hooks at a time to either the head or body. In between, there are times where Crawford will move and keep the jab in Postol’s face, flashing his tongue during. Postol does get in a couple of rights late, but ruins the momentum by rabbit punching Crawford in a clinch, even after being warned not to. Due to this, Postol gets the last thing he needs in the fight- a point deduction. Crawford lands one more chopping left before the bell, and Postol is visibly frustrated going back to his corner. Another dominant round for Crawford by default.

R12- Postol manages to land a right hand instantly, and draws Crawford into a wild brawl a minute in. This sequence is entertaining, albiet a bit sloppy, with both having some success. As expected, the timing of Crawford and good head movement in between allows him to edge it. Upon having Postol chase him again, Crawford sticks his tongue out at Postol again before turning the tide, walking him down whilst saying “Come on!”. The check hook is still proving to be a good weapon for Crawford, who is also picking off some clean left hands. We see him heavily taunting the outclassed, mentally and literally defeated Postol heavily towards the end, which causes Postol to show some clearly discouraged body language. Great closing round to what was a brilliant performance by Crawford. Bud was in his bag the whole night, unraveling all the tools he possesses within it. He was able to make a world class fighter look amateur, and this is the second time where he took the #2 guy of the division to school (first being Beltran in his last fight at lightweight). His footwork was on point from start to finish, his counterpunching was sharp, he was defensively efficient, and his versatility offensively was extremely proficient. The fight did go the distance, but Crawford’s power was enough to hurt Postol a good number of times, score two knockdowns, and evidently make Postol hesitant to throw at all. The fact that Crawford has not gone the distance in about seven years is a testament to Postol’s durability, even though Crawford did not seem to go for the kill in this fight. Also, the fact that Postol would go on to give nothing but hell to future unified world champions at the weight in Jose Ramirez and even the latest undisputed champ at the weight, Josh Taylor, adds weight to this win for Crawford. No one to date has been able to dominate Postol like this, not even Gary Antuanne Russell upon giving Postol his first stoppage loss. This win is the first time we saw Crawford as a unified champion, the last time we have seen him to go the distance in approximately seven years, the last time he would lose a round in the division, and a gateway to nothing but greater things.
