R1- Algieri is trying to create angles with his footwork and is able to nick in a few body shots, but Spence is doing the superior job to the body, landing jabs in between, and getting the better of the inside work done.

R2- Spence is using the jab and sometimes bulldozing tactics to guide Algieiri to the ropes as he pleases, getting in body shots at will. While Algieri is unable to land with his jab or anything significant besides one looping left hook, Spence is getting in clean lefts before getting back out of range. When Algieri lands this left, Spence lands his right hook, then follows up with a left. Soon after, he lands another one (despite holding Algieiri’s arm during) that seems to buzz him briefly. Clearly having his way with Algieri, Spence has a good round.

R3- As Spence continues to dig in shots to the ribs and hips of Algieri, he is also catching him coming in with counter left crosses and uppercuts. Algieri gets in some blows of his own, but Spence is seemingly landing 3-4 to every one shot by him. A pair of left hooks to the side seems to hurt Algieri late, but he stays composed till the final bell.

R4- Another sequence where they simultaneously land a power shot begins the round, but Spence is the only one who follows up by trapping Algieiri to the ropes, getting in left after left to the head. As they take the fight to the center ring, Spence lands a perfectly timed left hook that takes away Algieiri’s legs and puts him on a knee. While Spence doesn’t seem to go for the kill, he does pile up some more points with the jab and body work. All Algieri does post-knockdown is push Spence over at the end of the round. Another strong round for Spence.

R5- Algieri seems to go for it early, but to no avail, with Spence foiling his strategy and sending him crashing on his rear with a hard left hand before walking away in style. The right eye of Algieri is showing some serious swelling. It is speculated that Algieri twisted his ankle as he went down, but it is hard to tell. Spence is on top of his wounded foe right away, following up with an assortment of power shots, disallowing him to escape. In the midst of this follow up, a crushing overhand left sits Algieri down for a third and final time, and the referee stops it. I honestly do consider this a statement win, as Manny Pacquiao couldn’t stop Algieiri even after six knockdowns, and neither could Provodnikov. Plus, Spence looked great against a legit good fighter. This loss would put Algieri on the shelf for a couple of years, and he may be back on it for good following his recent loss to Conor Benn.
