Prediction.

I think the timing of the fight favours Castro mentally, Nery would ideally have a tune up, and get some momentum back after the Figueroa loss. I think Nery's biggest weakness is his chin, Castro isn't a puncher, which makes the fight interesting, Nery hits a lot harder than Castro. Both fighters are offensively good, Nery has the faster hands, is more accurate, and is the better counter puncher, but Castro has a higher output, has better variety, and is a better inside fighter. Castro is the better fundamental boxer, he uses his height at reach at long range, but doesn't struggle against short opponents. In the past, Nery has been countered when getting careless, but Castro isn't a great counter puncher, which is another reason he might not have a bad style for Nery. Like Figueroa, Castro is massive at 122, he's big at 126, he's the far stronger fighter, which gives him a better chance of holding up when Nery lands clean, lessens the difference in power, and means fighting in close is even worse for Nery, Nery might be more prepared for the size disadvantage with the experience of fighting Figueroa, Castro is unlikely to be as relentless as Figueroa, but in that fight, Nery didn't fight well at all under the pressure of a bigger opponent. Castro hasn't fought a southpaw in many years, that could be a problem for him. Nery isn't used to fighting opponents with Castro's reach, Figueroa has a longer reach than Castro, but Castro uses his reach better, has a better jab, and that could be a problem for Nery on the outside. Castro has been fighting a 122 since he was 17, he moved up to 126 in his last fight, making 122 will have only got tougher, and whether he's weight drained will be very important.

I think Castro will struggle to establish his jab because of Nery's stance and movement, that will allow Nery will set up his left with his front foot, Castro will take the shot, but will be backed up, and will be giving up his strength. I think Castro will open up more as the rounds go on, won't back Nery up or start to adapt to the left hand, but he will let his hands go as he backs up, will outwork Nery, Nery will be defensive on the front foot, and the volume of shots will take a toll on Nery. I think the fight will go more Castro's way as it goes on, Nery's shots will lose power, his feet will slow down, Castro will close the gap, push Nery back, and dominate the late rounds on the inside, I think Nery will defend well enough to not take a sustained beating, will land good shots whenever he can get space back, but he will take a lot of punishment.

I think Castro wins a UD, either fighter by stoppage or decision would surprise me.

I felt there was 4 decisive rds for Nery in this fight and with the remaining 6 a legit argument can be made for either way winning w varing reasons individually, competitive
Timothy Cheatham is a solid judge w whom a lot of my unofficial scores usually match and or tend to have high compatability with rd by Rd and I don't mind his score total here provided it's in that distribution..rds 1,3,6,8 for Nery
