I had to turn off automatic registration for the site because we're getting attacked by spammers.
Our traffic is artificially high, and I've had problems with our hosting company because we have too much spam traffic. I don't think most people will be happy waiting for approval when they sign up. And that's also an imperfect solution as I can usually identify spam accounts but it's not guaranteed that I will always be correct... so I have to work on some other solution but it won't be until this weekend.
Just a note to let you all know the spam should slow down from now forward... but also new members, which is not good.

thanks Zoe!
I have blocked the spammers that are bots successfully. At least for now. Spammers that are people can still come through at this point. But the bots are the worst offenders, so it's an improvement!
I've noticed recently that a lot of recently added fights don't have the score card comparing thing at the top. The one that shows what percentage of people scored a round and for who. Most notably Pacquiao vs Ugas. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason for this?
There is a reason... I am working on some new data analysis to show on fight pages, and when I was doing that work I accidentally broke the Controversy Rating. I'm working on a fix. It should be fixed soon, by next week some time at the latest.
That's new data analysis sounds awesome. I'm really looking forward to that. Also, I appreciate your reply. Hope the new features are coming along nicely.
Can you give me privilege's to add fights Zoe?
Yes I can. That would be great. I have a little shpeil about being a fight editor that I ask you to read first, I can share it here or if you want I can email it to you. It's just about checking that the fights you add aren't already on the site, and other things to be careful about. Still interested? Thank you!
Hi Zoe; Same request as Casualfan please; if you'd be willing to grant me the privilege, I'd be happy to lighten the load of the main queue.
Outage a few hours ago because of CPU on server pegged. Restart database and bring back site with spam posts, now deleted. I don't know how exactly, but I think spammers caused the CPU spike and outage. Can't prove it. Will need to figure out how to disable new user accounts a few days before a big bout. (New users posted the spam.)
Just an update/vent.
