Prediction.

The experience aspect favours Rosado, I think his prime was recent, he has been impressive in recent years, but he is 35, he didn't take much damage against Jacobs, he has a lot of miles, and could still get old overnight, but if not, this is a good step up for Melikuziev. Melikuziev is the much stronger fighter, he can push Rosado back, and he cut off the ring, Rosado can jab on the back foot, but Melikuziev can take a lot away from his offence by pushing him back, as he's predominantly a come forward fighter, and Rosado's defence isn't good, Melikuziev won't struggle to land when he's in range, with how accurate he is. Rosado has a good chin, but I think apart from Lemieux, Melikuziev hits harder than all his other opponents. Rosado hits hard, he has more power in the right hand, has a good straight and over hand right, he can test Melikuziev's chin if he lands clean, but Melikuziev is defensively good, and Rosado can't hit as hard at 168. Melikuziev isn't fast, but neither is Rosado, so Rosado can't take advantage of that, and because Rosado isn't defensively good, will take a lot of clean shots, and will likely be under a lot of pressure, the first half will take a lot more out of him than Melikuziev, and his 12 round experience won't be a factor.

I think Melikuziev will push Rosado back in the early rounds, Rosado's jab will make him think, but he will cut off the ring, Rosado will be under pressure, and when Rosado throws the right hand, Melikuziev will time the counter left more often as the rounds go on. I think Melikuziev will walk Rosado down in the mid rounds, will tee off to the head and body, Rosado will engage, but will take all the damage, he's highly likely to be cut bad, and the fight won't go past 8 rounds.

I'm impressed by Melikuziev, I'd be shocked if Rosado pulled out the upset, I wouldn't be surprised if Melikuziev got an early or late stoppage, it depends on what Rosado has left, but I'd be surprised if this went the distance, I think this will be fairly similar to Golovkin vs Rosado, Melikuziev doesn't have the variety or offensive method of Golovkin, but has more strength and power. It would be a statement from Melikuziev if he could be as dominant as Golovkin was against Rosado.

@Gold might not even be the KO of the night given the matchups we got tonight

but omfg love that timing had the bully ass up beat down....do you remember the name of the guy who got upset first rd went down and hurt his knee last month or prior?...im not good with names in general

Gold's picture

Haha, maybe and we have Tank and Wilder coming up soon after Inoue. I can't remember who you are talking about, may have missed it.

Rosado deserves the glory! he should have atleast 3 more wins than he has, love that he pulled this off

Champion97's picture

That was experience from Rosado, he was patient, knew he could time Melikuziev, didn't open himself up by fighting for the momentum, he let Melikuziev give him openings, was calm under the pressure, was blocking well, was wise to get up at 9 from the body shot in round 1, he could have got up earlier, it was a high risk strategy from him in terms of potentially letting the fight slip, but the counter right hand was there, Melikuziev is well schooled fighter, didn't rush in chin first and make it an easy KO, but he made a mistake none of his other opponents could exploit at all, but Rosado executed a great KO, it was the highlight of his career. I think this was a good learning fight for Melikuziev, it was a test he didn't pass, he didn't take a sustained beating, he's very young, but he doesn't have a great chin based on this fight, he made the mistake of lunging just slightly with the lead left hand, didn't jab his way in or adjust the angle on the shot, wasn't thinking about what could come back at him, it will be interesting to see how much he can improve after this.
