I am still in disbelief that this is happening. This is one of the best fights at Welterweight that can be made right now, and to be honest, i like this matchup more than Spence vs Crawford. Now Manny hasn’t fought in two years now and is 43, but depending on how active he’s been physically since fighting Thurman will really decide how this fight goes. On paper though, I am expecting a great fight. I think Spence has the skills necessary to beat Pacquiao but more likely than not will make it a difficult fight. I think Spence wins a decision.

Same, honestly I'm more excited for Pac-Man v Spence than I would have been for Crawford v Spence. Just hope it actually happens, PBC and Fox have confirmed it so I'm optimistic.

I'm surprised yourself and Metalhead are more excited for Spence vs Pacquiao than Spence vs Crawford, given the likelihood that Spence and Crawford are the top 2 at 147, why is it you think this a better fight than that?

Because I personally believe it's never going to happen, or if it does, it will be at a point, where we get another Floyd vs Manny situation where the fight doesn't happen while both fighters are still close to their primes. At least with Pacquiao vs Spence, it's already a given that Pacquiao is not in his prime, but he has the potential to make history. I believe that if Pacquiao wins this fight, he is easily in the echelons of the top 5 greatest boxers of all time and that is a very exciting prospect.

So it's that you never had high hopes for Spence vs Crawford happening until they're both well past it? I see, but I personally disagree, timing is very important in boxing in general, it is often crucial, it was for Golovkin vs Canelo, but for Mayweather vs Pacquiao, I didn't think it was important because neither especially benefitted from the 5 years the fight took, and I was just happy to see the fight personally.

I'll admit it's mainly down to the fact that Manny is one of my favourite fighters of all-time (if not my favourite outright), and I'm not particularly a big fan of Crawford, although I do respect his skills. So it's mainly just emotion/personal bias for me. Of course Crawford would be more competitive than Manny who's 42 coming off a 2 year layoff, but personally I'm high on Spence, I think he's the top dog at 147 and I think he beats both regardless. Also like Metalhead said, I'm not sure Spence-Crawford will actually happen anytime soon, at least as long as they're on different networks.

Basically, Spence-Crawford is a more competitive fight, but from a personal bias as a massive Manny fan I would prefer to see Manny get a crack at Spence first, and I do think he still has the ability to cause a massive upset.

i'll be shocked if this fight goes ahead. Spence in 4. Late if there's no VADA

They should call this fight "Primed" after the Austin Trout interview on ES.

War Pac man!!!

Spence by mid round tko in a fairly one sided fight.

And it's weird that it already has a star rating.

Stupid fight imo and going on from our discussion in the promotor thread this reeks of PBC cashing in. This won't be a difficult fight for Spence. Pac is 42 years old with 2 years out of the ring. I just hope he doesn't get knocked into retirement, although I fear he might.

Manny hasn't fought a truly world class operator since Tim Bradley! Thurman isn't the same fighter since the injury and Broner hasn't won since he was about 14 years old. I feel like they've coasted Manny through for years just setting him up for one big fight that could end badly.

Manny is a legend and I really hope he can be competitive in this fight. I'll be very impressed if he can go the 12 rounds. If he does it will surely be a wide UD. Personally I feel like this is an insult to boxing fans when Crawford is right there. Fk PBC.

I would love to see Pacquiao win this fight, but I honestly don’t think he will. Personally speaking, I definitely disagree with the previous comments on this fight being above Spence vs Crawford (although I think I do agree that that fight will probably never happen) and even though I will definitely be watching this Pac/Spence fight, I kinda wish it didn’t happen because I wanted Pacquiao to retire straight after the Keith Thurman victory. With everything he’s done, he really has nothing more to prove in boxing and too many boxers retire with a bad loss as their last fight. If Pacquiao were to win though, I would take back everything I said.

Prediction.

Spence hasn't fought many southpaws, but Pacquiao hasn't fought a southpaw since Spence was an amateur. Spence hasn't been inactive, Pacquiao is coming off the longest layoff of his career, and is extremely old. Pacquiao was faster than Spence in hand and foot, but I doubt he is now, Spence has got faster based on the Garcia fight, and Pacquiao has obviously got slower with age. Pacquiao is used to giving away strength, but Spence is big at 147, so there is a particular difference in size as strength. Spence's sheer power is nothing Pacquiao hasn'tdealt with, but he hits quite hard, is a volume puncher, and uses his ring IQ to set up a KO, Pacquiao hasn't beat an opponent who has the combination of all these strengths in many years. Spence's car accident makes this fight interesting, he beat Garcia, there were no clear signs of lasting damage, his reflexes were very sharp, but I still thought there were some bad signs when he got hit or the heads clashed. Pacquiao doesn't hit as hard at 147 as Danny Garcia, but like against Garcia, Spence is likely to have a low risk game plan, and I think Pacquiao will take all the damage.

I think Spence will be wary of Pacquiao's power in the early rounds, but will easily pick him off, Pacquiao's timing will be poor, and Spence will out box him on the outside. I think Spence will time Pacquiao's head movement with his jab, and Pacquiao will fall short when he comes in with the left. I think Pacquiao will tire after 4 rounds, which will give Spence even more control of the pace in the mid rounds, he'll be busier with his jab and follow it up more, will, won't be taking much out of himself, and will be knocking a lot out of Pacquiao. I think Spence will incease his punch output in round 7 or 8, will go through the gears, will still be prepared to defend, but will walk Pacquiao down, and Pacquiao will get beaten up for a few one sided rounds.

I think Spence stops Pacquiao with a late corner stoppage between rounds, I wouldn't be surprised if Spence got a mid stoppage, Pacquiao will do well if he goes the distance, I'd be shocked if he pulled out the upset, the deck is stacked well against him.
