Prediction,

Big step up for Stevenson!

I'm very impressed by Stevenson, I think he has the most potential out of all the US prospects, he has done great in his last couple of fights, especially against Simion, stopped him 1 round. This is a big risk for Stevenson, he is 21, 10-0, he has a lot to learn.

Diaz is 25, 24-1, seemed like another great prospect with a lot of potential, 2 fights ago, when he fought for a vacant world title against now WBO 130lb champion, Masayuki Ito. Diaz vs Ito was a good fight, competitive, but one sided, Diaz won 3 rounds, was dropped, well beaten. Diaz has fought once since the Ito fight, a 1st round KO against David Berna, in a 10 round fight, and the Ito fight was 8 months ago, so inactivity shouldn't be a real issue. Diaz was proven in the Ito fight, not to be as good as he seemed, but it is likely that Ito being good was also a factor.

Diaz is a big featherweight, he fought at super featherweight from 2016-18, the majority of his fights before that were at featherweight, and the Berna fight was as well, so making the weight shouldn't be an issue, but because he is used to fighting in a higher weight class, he will be stronger at this weight, will hit harder. Stevenson should prepare for a better Diaz than the Diaz who lost to Ito.

This is a very interesting fight, I believe in terms of sheer talent, calibre, Stevenson is levels above Diaz, but Diaz is much more experienced as a professional, he is closer to his prime than Stevenson is to his, and Diaz has probably learned, improved from the Ito fight.

I expect Stevenson to start fast, his variety, footwork, speed, I think will be too much for Diaz, possibly for all 6 of the first 6 rounds, but Diaz will keep moving forward, keep pressuring Stevenson, and he will have success. If this goes past 8, that will be a challenge for Stevenson, he hasn't been there before, Diaz has, and in the late rounds, that's when I think Diaz will come on strong, he'll have more in the tank, test Stevenson's stamina, adaptability, test his chin.

I think Stevenson will learn a lot from this fight, definitely more than in any of his other fights, for Diaz, I think like in the Ito fight, he will be in against the better fighter with more technical skill, more overall offensive ability, will lose, but will be competitive, make it a good fight.

I think Stevenson wins a UD, 97-93 on average.

Very impressive from Stevenson. This kid is definitely the real deal. Very fast hands, judges distance perfectly, nice switch from head to body constantly. I'd like to see more hooks from him and as he gets older hopefully he can develop his power. Great on the eye for the purist. He fought smart and did what he had to do against Diaz, although I'd have liked to see him up the ante a bit towards the end to see if he could hurt the guy. For what was a great performance, he never had Diaz in any serious trouble.

He wasn't happy that Teofimo was Co-headlining and he wasn't. The reason is that Teofimo hurts people and brutally knocks them out. Stevenson is probably just as good a prospect (if not better) than Teofimo but he'll need to get more aggressive if he wants to achieve the same notoriety.
