Prediction.

Both are good offensive fighters, have power and variety, neither are good outside fighters. Figueroa's defence is good on the inside, he moves his upper body, smothers the opponent's work, and doesn't smother his own work, Ramos has better head movement and blocking, but he uas a lot of defensive lapses, leaves openings. Ramos doesn't have a good chin, but he has good recovery, is durable, Figueroa has a granite chin, but Ramos has much better conditioning because he's the more disciplined professional. I think Figueroa is the better inside fighter, does better work without a gap, but I think Ramos is better at mid range, uses his jab to set up his combinations, he's faster than Figueroa in hand and foot. I think Ramos hits harder than Figueroa, and he can fight better off the back foot. Figueroa has the higher output before he tires, but there's no comparison for stamina, the late rounds will almost certainly favour Ramos.

I could see either winning without the activity aspect, but Figueroa hasn't fought since mid 2019, Ramos fought twice in 2020 and went past 9 rounds both times, Figueroa has fought 3 times in 5 years, Ramos has fought 14 times in that time, Ramos has a lot of miles, but he's 29, Figueroa is 31, has taken a fair amount of damage himself, and doesn't live the life, the timing aspect favours Ramos down to the ground.

I think Ramos will get the better of the early rounds by setting using his jab to set up combinations off the back foot, will land clean shots to head and body, Figueroa will be an easy target, will struggle to make Ramos fight his fight. I think the fight will be competitive in the mid rounds, Figueroa will do damage in exchanges, pin Ramos on the ropes and out fight him on the inside, but Ramos will still land hard shots as he gets off the ropes. I think Ramos will take over in the late rounds, Figueroa will gas, Ramos will create a small gap, attack the body, land the uppercut, will knock a lot out of Figueroa, and Figueroa will take a lot of punishment.

I think Ramos wins a wide UD, but I think it will be a good fight. I'd be surprised if Figueroa won, I wouldn't be surprised if Ramos got a late stoppage.

Champion97's picture

Great performance from Ramos, he's improved a lot, but Figueroa was terrible, the inactivity was a big factor, I didn't think his game plan was good either, his head movement in the early rounds was pointless, he was ducking low, slipping well over to each side, when there was nothing coming, and he'd stop when he looked to throw his own shots, so Ramos could just let him exert himself by dropping his knees with unnecessary head movement, wait for him to stop moving, and throw, Figueroa was very easy to time for that reason. Figueroa's ring cutting was awful, he was trying to force the fight on the inside, but he wasn't doing it with any method, Ramos easily kept away from the inside, Figueroa was a sitting duck for the right hand, the fight got more one sided as it went on, Figueroa could have been pulled out after round 4, he couldn't impose his offence, had no defence, and was getting beaten up, his granite chin kept him in there for a beating, and the right hands to the body at the end of the 6th finished Figueroa. Figueroa is definitely a case of wasted talent.
