Re: Jaime Munguia vs Patrick Allotey
Prediction,
I don't know what Munguia is still doing at 154, he's very big for the weight, obviously not a natural light middleweight, and he's 22, so it is dangerous to try to keep making the weight, he admitted he was drained in his last fight, there are fights for him at 160, so he should move up. Munguia was very disappointing against Hogan, got an absolute gift.
Allotey is 40-3, he is only 28, he is a young veteran, been a professional since 2006, he's been 12 rounds 6 times, turned professional at 16. Allotey has 3 losses, most recently against Kanat Islam (21-0), in 2016, by UD, he lost twice in a row, a few fights before that, against Charles Manyuchi (13-2) and Patrick Teixeira (24-0), he was stopped in both those fights. Allotey has won his last 6 fights, the first 3 of those 6 were against opponents with losing records, 8 round fights, but his last 3 fights have been African title fights, 12 rounds, opponents who had won at least 9 more than they'd lost, but African level is not world level, and although Allotey has had a lot of fights, he doesn't have any wins over world level opponents.
I think this is about levels, Allotey is a good fighter at African level, but Munguia is a good fighter at world level, and Munguia should win this without problems, Munguia will probably be drained if he makes the weight, which means the natural size will be more of a disadvantage for him, but unless he's very, very badly drained, I don't think it will be enough for Allotey to have the beating of him.
I think Munguia will stop Allotey late, Allotey might get pulled out between rounds, Munguia will be dominant overall, it will be about levels, but Munguia won't make a statement, will get caught more than he should, and Allotey will make it more competitive than he people will expect, because Munguia is fighting at too low a weight.
