Re: Gervonta Davis vs Yuriorkis Gamboa
Prediction,
If Davis can land clean, he stops Gamboa, I think it's as simple as that, Davis has top level power, Gamboa has very weak chin, been down at least 14 times in his career, which is a lot for a fighter with 32 fights, 2 losses, Gamboa is more experienced at 135, but he's not the naturally bigger fighter, and Davis will be stronger.
I think Davis is a more technically skilled boxer than Gamboa, he is 24, should be improving slightly with every fight even if he isn't getting the experience he needs at this stage, Gamboa is 38, he has a lot of miles, whether or not he's shot is arguable, but he's certainly past his best. I don't think Gamboa has the legs or the reflexes to beat Davis to the punch, stop Davis finding his range, he's never been the most compact, Gamboa, has bad balance, can be caught on the counter, so I think he will get hurt even if he tries to out box Davis, and he will get destroyed if he tries to take the fight to him.
To be fair to Gamboa, he did well in his last fight, but I think that was more about Martinez being shot, he beat Sosa in 2017, but that was a controversial decision, I think the Crawford fight ruined him, he took a lot of damage in that fight, he showed a lot of heart, boxed well and gave Crawford problems in the early rounds, but he was knocked out, dropped 4 times, badly hurt, and since then, he's been inactive, only lost one, but it was an upset loss, and he has been down and struggled in some of his other fights which were supposed to be easy. Gamboa has been very inconsistent, he fought twice in 2017, but he didn't fight in 2016, only once in 2015, 18, 19, so he's not been active overall.
I think Davis knocks Gamboa out in 1 round, he only needs to land one clean power shot, doesn't have to be a good set up or the hardest shot, but once he lands, Gamboa will be hurt, and Davis is a great finisher, I don't think Gamboa can tie up and stop Davis's follow up attack, and I don't think he has the legs to get on his bike, get through the round.

Free KO for Davis. I hope Gamboa proves us wrong but we know he won't.

Good fight put on by Gamboa. He was throwing away the early rounds but he survived and did a lot better than we expected.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs Yuriorkis Gamboa
I don't know whether to be more impressed by Gamboa or disappointed by Davis. Davis lacks discipline, he missed the weight, his conditioning was poor in this fight, he was slower than he normally is, he seemed to struggle for pace in the late rounds, he couldn't sustain an attack, couldn't sustain his pressure, which is why Gamboa got to round 12 after being dropped in round 8. I think this was a good learning fight for Davis, he went past 8 rounds for the first time, but although he needed rounds, he shouldn't have got them in this fight, because he should have stopped Gamboa well inside 8 rounds. Gamboa deserves a lot of credit, no one gave him a chance, at 38, with the miles he has, and he fought 10 rounds with a torn Achilles, that's a bad injury. I don't think Gamboa is as shot to hell as he has looked in other fights, I think he has lacked dicipline himself in the past, but he was better in this fight than he was in some of the fights between the Crawford fight and this fight, however, I still think Davis would have stopped him a lot earlier if he hadn't slacked. Davis will be underrated by some after this, we've seen the power he has, he has a lot of overall skill as well, he is a complete fighter in the ring, it's what he does outside the ring which could be his undoing.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs Yuriorkis Gamboa
Gamboa got KOed in the 12th. The fight didn't to the cards. The 11th was the last full round contested. Therefore, the 12th is not scored.
