They should get Ajagba in against Dychko or Goodall. Either of those two I think would KO Ajagba. Yeah, they'd fuck Ajagba up but that's why I don't hear those names floated around because nobody wants to fight those two at heavy. We'll see.

Prediction.

Both fighters were good amateurs, but Sanchez had a longer amateur career, had WSB fights, and has had more professional fights, he's definitely the more experienced fighter overall, but as professionalis, I think Ajagba's win over Demirezen is by far the best win between them. Both fighters seem to have decent chins, but both hit very hard, and can hurt the other, Ajagba has a size advantage, is stronger, has a big reach advantage, that could be a problem for Sanchez, it's definitely something Sanchez has to deal with. Ajagba has defensive lapses, he struggles not to lunge forward when he throws, Sanchez is harder to counter because he holds his position better than Ajagba when he misses with the right hand, and he has far more speed in hand and foot. The battle of the jabs is very interesting, both have purposeful jabs, Ajagba has a hard, accurate working jab, he uses it to back his opponent up and set up the right hand, but Sanchez has a fast jab which he uses as a throw away punch to set up his opponent. Both fighters are versatile, can fight on the inside, can counter off the back foot. Ajagba is the better inside fighter, the better body puncher, and is more accurate, but Sanchez has better head movement, and does a better job of nullifying his opponent's offence than Ajagba, he ajusts his position, utilises clinches. Ajagba is relatively static, Sanchez can have success if he can take centre ring, but Sanchez is a lot more mobile, Ajagba will need to time him.

I think Sanchez will start faster, will move and throw combinations, jab first to get within Ajagba's reach, and Ajagba will need to find his timing, but Sanchez will be taking more out of himself with his own physical and mental work, and as the rounds go on, as Sanchez starts to slow down and Ajagba adapts to Sanches's movement, Ajagba will start to have success with his jab, which will negate Sanchez's offence, knock it out of Sanchez, and will set up the right hand. I think the momentum will swing in Ajagba's favour in the second half, he will establish the right hand at long range, Sanchez won't be able to get inside his reach, and he will get the better of Sanchez on the inside. I think Sanchez will still be fairly competitive in the late rounds, will hit Ajagba with enough clean shots that he has to keep his guard up and pick his shots, but Ajagba will do all the damage.

I think Ajagba wins a UD, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sanchez won a UD, but I'd be surprised if he stopped Ajagba, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ajagba got a stoppage.

Champion97's picture

Great performance from Sanchez, he boxed great, he got Ajagba's respect early, his timing was great, Ajagba struggled mentally with his hand speed, but Sanchez's foot speed was more of a problem, he was cutting off the ring well, but he was so much slower than Sanchez, that he was always behind with the feet, Sanchez didn't stop moving, and Ajagba didn't let him back him up and pick him off, but Ajagba couldn't walk him down, couldn't keep him in front of him at any stage. Ajagba fought a low risk fight even as the aggressor, he knew Sanchez was timing him, Sanchez was mentally disciplined throughout, didn't do any more than he needed to, but didn't get out worked.

Guy Incognito's picture

Wow Sanchez did brilliant. Ajagba looked a good prospect, but this is the first quality fighter he's faced and Sanchez was a whole league above him. Good fight, but in all honesty I only tuned in because I was waiting for the main event lmao

Sanchez made a decent fighter look distinctly average. It was a masterclass really. I think he could have got the stoppage if he'd tried to get it but he was content with the decision. He broke Ajagba's heart in there. He couldn't get close and looked so despondent in the corner when getting those bollockings in between rounds. It was a disappointing performance from him, he didn't want to go out on his shield and saved face by not getting knocked out. He tasted Sanchez's power early and didn't want any part of it, especially after getting dropped.

Sanchez looks really good. He has that typical annoying one paced Cuban style. Reminds me of a slightly more defensive version of Luis Ortiz, who I've always rated highly.
