Hagler started out slowly in the early rounds but imposed his game plan in the second half of the fight as Leonard grew tired from running from him. Very close fight but Hagler deserved the win because he was the aggressor and landed the better punches.

Welcome to Eye on the ring!

This was such a great fight, a great battle of tactics, such a gruelling fight, with so much heart, dedication and courage, and a great clash of styles above all. Many think Hagler should have gotten the decision, and everyone who knows boxing can easily see why, I'm really glad it was a split decision, but 118-110 for Leonard, you have to shake your head. I think Hagler imposed his game plan throughout, but when you have an opponent with the speed, overall skill level, and footwork of Leonard, it is extremely hard to find the right range, very hard to commit psychologically, and hard to find any kind of rhythm of work, but pressure is always good, and for anyone to move on the balls of their feet like Leonard did, under that kind of pressure, and stay out of harms way, is going to have everything drained out of them, and they are going to have to dig deep in the later rounds, obviously, against the bigger puncher, and fighting what is their kind of fight, it is an extreme challenge. It's easy in my opinion to see why Leonard admitted he would ahead lost this fight had it been a 15 round fight, I personally think they should still be around.
