Well there goes Kell Brook's idea of winning an "easy" belt off of Ali. Mungia looked huge and drove through Ali's offense, I would be very interested to see how Mungia would do versus a high level Super Welterweight, Liam Smith is still theoretically the mandatory but I'm not sure he would want any part of Mungia. Mungia is very young but he certainly announced his arrival as a legitimate threat at Super Welterweight.

Liam Smith won't duck Munguia, I'll tell you that much!

Now, I wish we would have seen him against GGG. He looked every bit as big, and didn't seem to lack the seasoning. Seems like Golden Boy saw a guy who might compete against GGG, which could cost them with Clenelo, so they had Nevada deny him. Yet he's allowed to take another title fight on short notice? Something is fishy, and I think it is Golden Boy

I still don't wish we would have seen him versus Golovkin, he is still a little raw, Ali was hitting him but Ali doesn't have anywhere enough power to get Mungia's respect. I think Mungia would have put up a better fight than Martirosyan but Mungia wouldn't have been able to drive through Golovkin's offense and Golovkin has an unreal chin, unlike Ali. I think it is better to build prospects up like they are doing with Mungia rather than giving them too big of a challenge too quickly like what happened with Lubin vs. Charlo. Regardless if Golden Boy was involved or not, Mungia fought in New York and it was at Super Welterweight versus Sadam Ali, not at Middleweight versus Golovkin. I think it is plausible to say the NSAC thought the Golovkin fight was too much of a challenge while the NYSAC thought the Ali fight wasn't too much of a challenge.
