Hey Christian, did this fight turn you into a Liam Smith fan?

I tell you what, he hit Canelo harder and more often than I've ever seen. He showed a lot of heart, a lot of grit, and a lot of class. So, yes, I would love to watch him fight again, and I would support him. How are things with you, Champ?

I know, he's one tremendous fighter, I think realistically, Smith's level of ability lies between what a pundits over here believed, and pundits in any other country believed before the fight, I think the guys over here on box nation were a little hasty in saying he was ready for Alvarez, and that he 'beats the Charlos all day long', when he hadn't fought anyone at a respectable level in comparison to Canelo, but, in relation to all the millions who thought this fight would be a mismatch, and around 3 easy rounds for Alvarez, I think Smith proved them further from accuracy than myself and everyone else over here who knew much at all about Liam Smith as a boxer, and I'm not keen on Dan Rafael calling it a mismatch, because when a fight lasts 8-9 rounds, and it's competitive throughout, neither could possibly win a round easily, and in rounds, it could be 6-2, that's not a mismatch. I think stylistically, Smith was always going to be a convenient opponent for Alvarez, but he is simply too good for it to possibly have been an easy fight for Alvarez, I think Smith was at a disadvantage because of the lack of sparring due to the cut, and also don't think he did the right thing in terms of being brave instead of smart, I think by all means take risks, by all means, try to go down fighting rather than settling for defeat and play it safe when you have nothing to lose, but round 12, surely that's the time for that, I don't think we've seen anywhere near the best of Liam Smith.

That's great, it's good to see a fighter get the recognition he deserves, and Smith may have lost a title in September, but he gained a huge amount of fans.

I'm OK thanks buddy, not had the best year, I've had your pull out of two marathons this in the last few months, due to two sprained ankles, but I'm just looking forward to starting training again in the new year. How are you?
