This wasn't a disputable win. Ramirez had some good moments but was always the victim of the cleaner, sharper punching. Taylor was in control aside from a few rounds near the beginning and a few toward the end; he also landed the MUCH more devastating punches. The first KD was a beautiful pull counter.

The second was partially on the inept ref, but when you are fighting a vicious, do whatever you can on breaks guy like Taylor you have to be ready. Plus he caught Ramirez with that uppercut numerous times aside from that occasion. Ramirez showed heart to make it out of the fight, I thought he was done in the 7th. With a little better use of energy I think Taylor could finish off these fights where he hurts his opponent, but he proved once again that he is the class of 140 as I expected. I don't think he'll do as well at 147 though, I don't think he should hop divisions just yet.

Ramirez is still a tough guy who puts entertaining fights on, but I don't think he has the craft to match Taylor or Prograis. I'll always tune in however, and he didn't lose so bad that he can't work his way to a rematch.

Prograis put up a closer fight than Ramirez and might be the better rematch. Bud is an option but not a good one. Even if Taylor does want to make that fight down the line, it shouldn't be next when he has never acclimated to 147.

Good analysis, I agree Taylor clearly won, and that was a great shot off the back foot in round 6 even if Ramirez wasn't hurt bad, it was the timing and the accuracy more than the power.
