Good, competitive fight. Jacobs was game all the way through and seemed to get better as the fight went on. While a very competitive fight, I would put this one in the close, but clear category. Thought Golovkin did plenty to win the fight and although Jacobs was right there, the 4th Round knockdown for GGG and the fact that despite Jacobs was firing away throughout the fight, GGG was able to continue to keep coming forward throughout the fight and land enough combinations in some of the closer rounds to pull it out.
Thought the first 2 rounds went to GGG, they were pretty much feeling out rounds with not a ton of action. GGG slightly busier and therefore wins the first 2 rounds. Thought Jacobs came on in the 3rd round and then the knockdown in the 4th for GGG. Jacobs had a nice rebound round in the 5th and the 6th was a very close competitive round that I had even. Jacob's best round was the 7th IMO. He controlled the round and out-paced GGG in the round. To despite Jacob's controlling the 7th, GGG continued to come forward the entire round and kept control of center ring.
Thought GGG responded by winning the 8th round; he had a real nice round and then was able to take the 9th round as well by landing the better combinations, especially in the second half of the round.
The 10th round was again a very close, tough round to score. GGG was again coming forward the entire round, but Jacob's was game the entire round and seemed to match everything GGG threw at him. Thought Jacob's had a real solid, aggressive 11th round that was a clear round for him. The 12th Round was very close as well. Both fighters stood in and traded blows. I gave GGG a slight, slight edge in the 12th, as both fighters were very active and game. Thought GGG landed the slightly cleaner punches and therefore gave him the 12th by a sliver.
Good, competitive fight. Jacob's showed a tougher chin than most gave him credit for going in, and I thought he showed a lot of skill as well. He was quick and did not back down at any point in the fight. With that being said, GGG at no time appeared to be in any danger in the fight, he continued to come forward the entire fight and controlled center ring throughout the fight. And his defense was probably tighter than he will get credit for as well. In the end, it wasn't the total drama show we might have expected, but a very good fight that GGG deservedly pulled out. Jacob's was right there. A rematch would be interesting a little bit down road after GGG has finished with the other business he has to attend to.

Not a bad analysis, but it wasn't in the 'close, but clear' category, it could have gone either way, and round 5 was one of the two clear Gooovkin rounds, and rounds 6 and 10 were the rounds, which Jacobs undoubtedly won.
