Should have my picks in by Friday or Saturday. These first couple weeks of training have been brain melting.

Champion97's picture

Great, no pressure until the 12th, but whenever you like.

I have another theory test tomorrow, I might fail again, if I do, same as before, take another in 4-5 weeks, but I have learned more since last time, came close then, so I think I have a good chance of passing, sooner I can drive, the better.

SalTnutZ1's picture

I understand buddy, that is an important part of growing more independent, and enjoying your freedom.

Champion97's picture

Cheers man. How are you at the moment pal?

SalTnutZ1's picture

Not great. Gal is moving out May31, so about to have all of my bills doubled, and have to get another job in addition to the one I’m training for currently, so sad, stressed, and depressed. Wish I could say it’s chnaged since January, but I’ve just had a flat horrible few months that just seem like they will continue.

Champion97's picture

Sorry to hear that. I'm still going through the mill myself, it's been about 2 years now, but I'm getting there, could be worse, I still have to control the self harm, especially to the head, but I'm gradually getting better. I'm very happy my dad's cancer didn't spread, which means apart from one operation, and occasional check ups, he'll be fine, so I can't say at close to my worst. I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles man, life is not easy, for some of us more than others, but if you don't kill yourself, you've won half the battle.

How about Wlad returning?

SalTnutZ1's picture

For sure, and wish I could say those thoughts never come to mind, but 34 years of never catching a break and having to fight from nothing has worn on me...

It’s intriguing. But I wonder who he’ll fight, is the plan an eventual rematch with Joshua, or does he have his eye on Fury to avenge his performance in that fight? Who do you think he wants? I’ve also heard he wants the WBC and Wilder, but that seems the least likely.

Champion97's picture

Those thoughts are not that rare, suicide sometimes sees like the only way to help yourself, but it is irreversible, and if someone does it, their family suffers worse than they ever did, which is why, at the worst of times, I always stopped myself.

I don't know, problem I have with the Joshua rematch is, in the first fight, Joshua was an inexperienced fighter who was in the learning fight he needed, Klitschko was well, well past his best, so if Klitschko was ever going to beat Joshua, he would have done it 2 years ago, he must know that, otherwise, why not take the rematch in Vegas? The Fury rematch is more likely because Klitschko knows he could have taken a couple more risks, was very confident he was going to win the rematch, but I think Fury would beat him up and stop him in 6, he must know Fury is better than he gives him credit for.

Briggs is coming back as well, I wouldn't mind seeing Klitschko vs Briggs, that would sell, the build up would be entertaining for the fans, and I think it would be a good fight.

SalTnutZ1's picture

Oh I know. My step dad did it in 2009, and I was the one who found him and had to contact the authorities, so I know the mental impact on family.

With him signing with DAZN, Joshua seems the most obvious target, as I doubt they give him that much, or that many fights, if it wasn’t for a huge potential matchup. Fury being with ESPN makes it seem as if that one is out of reach. The Wilder one seems intriguing, only because that is a belt that I bleieve(without looking it up), would be the one belt Wlad never held. And with Wilder stating he could fight anywhere, if they plan on kicking both the Joshua and Fury fights down the road, that one could happen. I think Wlad, both historically and due to time out, couldn’t hold up to the power of Wilder, but he’d prove a formidable opponent due to his Eastern Euro, jab and clinch style and strength to load up. Plus, it would give Wilder another huge name on resume, and one that Fury and Joshua already have. .

Champion97's picture

I'm sure you understand better than I do man. Hopefully things start to look up for you.

I don't think he is targeting any champion, but just misses boxing, Wilder and Fury are not easy to make, he's already as good as admitted he'd lose a Joshua rematch.

Champion97's picture

Hey pal, I passed my test!

SalTnutZ1's picture

Good shit! I knew you’d get it. You were ready this time, and had some motivation with fam stuff to persevere. Proud of ya bud. Now once they figure out some underwater tunnels between the US, and UK, you just to drive over and visit, hahaha.

Champion97's picture

Cheers bro, I'm glad it's done and dusted, I'm going to work towards my practical, ASAP, and then I can give people a lot if lifts, pay them back for all the lifts I've had over the years if not being able to drive. Seriously though man, if I go to the US one day, we should meet up for a pint and a chat about boxing.

Jermall Charlo nicked GGGs opponent, wonder who he'll fight now, he was supposed to fight that Szemereta, I believe, maybe he fights an Arias or Akavov, then at the end of the year, a title shot against the Andrade vs Sulecki winner. As a Golovkin fan, I was sad to see him lose, and hope GGG has a bit left in the tank, because if he does, which he should, if he's 95% as good as he was against Canelo, it will take another great fighter to beat him.

SalTnutZ1's picture

For sure buddy. You got a place to crash if you ever make it to Kansas City. We are a laid back city, with great food, and good looking woman, haha.

Yeah, I saw that. I bet Szemereta will be it. If it was going to be Andrade, I think they would have tried that for the Summer, given GGG being top contender for WBO, and that would set up an undisputed in September with Canelo. If that doesn't happen, Canelo may face Andrade in Fall to become undisputed, GGG will have another fight like a Jason Quigley or Falcao, that level, and then the part III with Canelo in May. Thoughts on that?

Champion97's picture

GGG against Canelo again, in my opinion, isn't the best, because of the timing, but it would still be a great match up, both fights were close, it's not 2-0, Canelo is lucky it's 1-0-1, if anything, all it would take for Golovkin to win would be for Canelo to underestimate him in the back of his mind, or maybe it still being so close it's just Golovkin's night, judges wise, because he did not lose clearly to Canelo. I don't doubt Golovkin can be easily 90% of as good, 95% even, of as good as he was in the second Canelo fight, I definitely think if he was a few years younger, he'd beat Canelo, he's good enough, hard working enough, but at his age, to have the beating of a prime Canelo when he lost last time, is a very big ask. You?

SalTnutZ1's picture

I think the fight with him is happening for sure, as they didn’t sign him, and for that much money, without that fight being in mind, as that is the biggest fight DAZN could make with house fighters, and one of the biggest fights in the World. What happens in the lead up is where it may get interesting. Will either target Andrade first, to add that title to the mix. Will Danny some how spark Canelo and ruin it all? A lot has to go right before hand, that’s for sure.

Champion97's picture

True, the fight is still a great match up. Definitely, Jacobs is very good, has a shot, Andrade is undefeated, is also very good, but we don't know how good because he hasn't been tested. Is Andrade good enough to beat Canelo, Jacobs, GGG? If Canelo vs GGG III happens, would you pick GGG?

SalTnutZ1's picture

Got my picks in this morning

Champion97's picture

I know, I saw, will add them shortly. Good month, plenty that will be argued about, the ones that will be argued about this month are Tete vs Donaire, Rungvasai vs Estrada II, Roman vs Doheny, Shields vs Hammer, Truax vs Qullin.

I had another run in with Gold yesterday, I was tempted to leave him out of the competition this month, but I think that is petty, and makes myself look like the bad guy, also, the more in the competition, the better.

What fight are you most looking forward to this month?
