Are there any missed Super Fights that should have happened, but never did?
Carl Froch vs. Joe Calzaghe
Mike Tyson vs. David Tua
Mike Tyson vs. Riddick Bowe
Riddick Bowe vs. Lennox Lewis
Brandon Rios vs. Ruslan Provodnikov
Amir Khan vs. Floyd Mayweather
That first one cpuld still happen, both are returning, and I see a good 3-4 years ahead for Brandon Rios.
Provo vs. Rios would be war. Don't think that fight goes the distance. Really hope they can put it together. Another interesting fight for Bam Bam would be Victor Ortiz. Those two have a real hatred for one another. Hopefully they can settle that in the ring.
Yes, possibly, and definitely in terms of the way there styles would clash, one wpuld have to think it be an all out battle, but I believe since the Bradley fight Provodnikov hasn't been quite right, and Brandon Rios, well I think after a warm up bout or two, he'll peove many people wrong, so I think Rios would dominate Provodnikov, I still think it could be war.
I don't think that's interesting at all, fun to watch for three rounds, but I honestly think it would like Alvarado III for Rios, and an utter mismatch, I honestly do, I think they shoukd just forget about that fight, and Rios should push on with his career, if Provodnikov impresses, then that is a grat fight, but I think Rios vs Broner is a lot better.
You might be right but Rios hasn't fought in 2 years, and when he did he looked very sluggish. But who knows how hard he's training right now. Hopefully he's looking to continue his career as he was an entertaining fighter.
Yes, but these are just facts that everyone knows about, which prove nothing, basically, Rios was on the up, he looked phenomenal against Alvarado and I know Alvarado was declined, yeah yeah yeah, but to dominate hime in that fashion, was impressive, him and Robert Garcia got too close, their working relationship wasn't good, so they stopped training together, Rios, now, has a trainer who seems very similar to Robert Garcia, Ricky Funez, he probably trains his fighters in a similar way to how Garcia does, Rios, is training very hard, he looks in better shape than he ever has, he won't be so lethargic he isn't even the same fighter when he fights next time he fights, the only thing left to do now before being unedrrated stops, is fighting, it should happen soon.
Who do you think wins in a fight between Rios and Victor Ortiz? I know that there were fight rumours between them late last year, but those plans seeked to have cooled off for now.
Rios, easy, pretty much the way he beat Alvarado I think, I think Rios has better skills all round, better at walking down the opponent than Berto, better combination puncher, I think he'd tear right through him. It's the weleterweight equivalent of putting Audley Yarrison in there with Dereck Chisora.
I believe Ortiz is actually the more talented boxer, but his will to forge through adversity would probably be his downfall. Ortiz may be at that point in his career where he's probably going to lose every 3 out of 4 fights against ranked boxers- unless he takes a step down in competition. Might be time for him to retire soon, or at least get that one last money fight against Rios.
I don't agree with that but it is hard to say and either of us could be right. Yeah I agree, I don't see much point in carrying on now, after getting stopped by Andre Berto in the way he was stopped. I really think Rios vs Ortiz would be a mismatch.
Amir Khan vs. Manny Pacquiao
Prince Naseem Hamed vs. Floyd Mayweather
Pacquiao vs Khan could still happen.
Yeah I heard they may start talks again if Manny can get past Jeff Horn. The Horn fight is a disappointing one, as there are better options out there for Manny.
I really do believe there is hooe for that fight, I think I'd edge Khan.
Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan (This fight needs to happen)
Oscar De La Hoya vs. Sergio Martinez (Sergio wasn't a big enough name for Oscar to take. I think Sergio started to blow up just as Oscar was winding his career down. Timing just wasn't right, so this fight wasn't really possible)
I think Khan and Brook coukd go in seperate directions, I mean, I suppose it is still a great fight, and if Spence beats Brook, it will be a situation of them both needing a win, but dles Khan want the fight?
Do you know any updates regarding that? I've seen a few interviews with each guy bad mouthing the other.
No to be honest, they don't get along, but that is because they never shared a ring (well, they sparred in their amateur careers), I really don't think the fight will happen, and it isn't so much because of public demand or the fact that they both lost last year in brutal or devastating fashion, it is mainly because Khan absolutely sabotaged the fight last time Hearn tried to make it, and now, even if Khan is having second thoughts which I highly doubt, Hearn and Brook have probably given up on that fight now, we don't need the fight, I mean there are many better ones out there which have more chance of happening.
And of course- Canelo vs. GGG
Couod definitely still happen, if Canelo can smoke out GGG, and beat maybe a slightoy declined Golovkin, then that is a sign he is a champion who knows how go make it work for himself.
I hope this fight happens. IMO it's the biggest fight in boxing today.
Does the winner of that fight jump to the top of the P4P list?
I think so too, and not necessarily in my opinion, maybe, it depends on the performance from both fighters, what other top boxers are doing, I think Ward and Crawford will be the top 2 soon.
After his unification of the belts, Ward is probably #1 or at least #2 on most P4P lists. I admire his granting Kovalev a rematch as the last fight was looked at as a controversial decision.
He should be.
It shouldn't have been a controversial decision, Ward won, and next time, I think he'll win wider.
Golovkin vs Pirog
Vitali/Wladymir vs Valuev
Marquez vs Morales
Haye vs V.Kliczko
I think Marquez vs Morales is the most unfortunate fight not to have happened of the lot of them.
I was just telling mike25, Marquez, having had the career he has had, being his age, and coming off such a long layoff, he should definitely retire now, a couple of years ago, I hoped to see Pacquiao vs Marquez V, but I think that is extremely unlikely to happen.
I thought his other ones were a bit silly, I mean, without being rude, because evefyone is entitled to their own opinion, but did we really need to see Haye against Vitali after the way the Wladimir fight turned out. And Klitschko vs Valuev, well, Valuev was beaten by Haye, I thought Holyfield had the better of him, I think a prime Holyfield against Klitschko would have been great, or a not too far past prime Holyfield, meaning Klitschko vs Holyfield on the right side of 2010, maybe 2008, or even better, a few years earlier.
Rios is fighting later in the month in Mexico by the way.
Marquez should absolutely retire. He's been away from the sport for too long, plus he's got nothing left to prove. I suppose a final bout vs. Cotto would've been interesting had the fight gone through, but it seems that boat may have already sailed.
I as well thought Holyfield should've been given the nod against Valuev, but I guess the judges thought otherwise. Definitely a robbery IMO. Holyfield was unquestionably a very entertaining fighter, who was perhaps the one fighter in the 90's and 00's who fought all the big names minus the Klitschko brothers. A bout with Tommy Morrison, or even the rumoured that should have happened with Roy Jones Jr. would absolutely have been intriguing.
Yes, they would have been awesome fights. I think Roy Jones Jr should lose his licence, so should James Toney.
Yes, and that's because neither was willing to compromise. Cotto wanted to fight at 154, Marquez wanted to fight at 147, unless they agreed to a catchweight, how could that fight come through?
I think Cotto should retire too now.
