Favorites/Feedback/Community Engagement

I figure since we are a community of fans, sharing things that we enjoy about the game should be encouraged. I have a few Youtube boxing pages I follow, and a few Twitter/Boxing personalities I thought I'd highlight that I believe some may enjoy if they use those platforms. I also thought I'd mention who some of my favorite fighters from my lifetime watching the sport, plus a few things about myself.

First off guys, love the site and glad to have found a spot of like-minded people who enjoy the sport as much as I do. My name is Clint, but my handle is Salty Nuts if you are reading it. I'm 32, from Kansas City, Missouri here in the states, and have been watching the sport since I was a pup in the late 1980's, with my parents who were big fight fans. I enjoy any and all input on my cards, so any comments will be looked at and responded to with thoroughness and thoughtfulness. I try not to be disrespectful of anyone, or the sport, and hope everyone else approaches me and others in a similar fashion(as has occurred without issue thus far in my time here).

So a few Youtubers who I believe do a goog job highlighting/analyzing the sport are:
Boxing Legends TV- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuHeVY3bLH1OdhhQ_KyJnUA
OfficeHanchoBoxing- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrg3MVqw0MJVMJ6TQGUS0hA

Motivedia- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq99IkCksd1N1DaV6eWlCmg

Great idea.

Good to meet you Clint, I'm Jonny, I'm from England, I'm 20. I got into boxing when I was about 12, by dad was telling me about his dad, who I never met, but am very, very similar to, and when he told me about how much of a boxing fan my grandfather was, I thought I would take an interest. Not long after I started boxing myself, started watching boxing, and basically, ever since then, I have loved boxing!, I don't box anymore, I do a lot of long distance running, but apart from that, I'm not much of a sports fan.

To be honest, I think the best YouTube channels to watch, the YouTube channels I like to watch, are EsNews, Behind The Gloves, ThaBoxingVoice, Dontae's Boxing Nation, SecondsOut, and a few more of the channels which gets interviews from people inside the boxing world.

Personally I don't do Facebook, Twitter, at all.

My favourite current fighters are,
Deontay Wilder
Mikey Garcia
Errol Spence Jr
Dmitry Bivol
Terence Crawford
Callum Smith
Danny Jacobs
Zolani Tete

My favourite historic fighters are Ray Leonard, Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Ali/Clay, and Lennox Lewis.

In terms of boxing media, I haven't seen Lee Wylie mentioned here yet. He provides great tactical analysis that really makes you appreciate the great boxers in this sport.

Re: Favorites/Feedback/Community Engagement

I got into boxing fairly recently. It started with an anime, Hajime no Ippo, of all things, which lead to me watching real boxing.

Plenty of great Youtube boxing channels mentioned here; I'll add two to the list: haNZAgod and Reznick. These are the only two channels you need for highlight reels. Reznick is an artist, his videos are of very high quality. haNZAgod has a good eye for boxing, and is a consistent producer, his videos do not simply highlight boxers slugging it out but also their more technical nuances.

My all time favourite fighter is Willie Pep, his portrait graces my profile picture. I can watch his films and never get tired of it.

Another great favourite is Nicolino Locche, he could box with unearthly serenity.

I like a lot of the Panamanian boxers. Everyone loves Duran, I like him too. But other Panamanians like Ernesto Marcel, Eusebio Pedroza and Hilario Zapata are my personal favorites.

More modern fighters I like are Mike McCallum and James Toney. They are the definitive boxing craftsmen, true students of the game. Pernell Whitaker too, Benton did not call him 'masterpiece' for nothing.

Wilfred Benitez was the embodiment of talent, his radar was a joy to watch. Sad he fell apart because he never cared much for the game with his lackadaisical attitude towards training.

I don't really like Jimmy Young as much as the other names I mentioned, but he deserves more respect for what he pulled on Ali and Foreman.I remember bursting out in laughter as I watched him leaning through the ropes in the Ali fight. Young was feather-fisted and not particularly athletic, but he beat Heavyweight greats by thinking outside the box.

Journeymen are the unsung heroes of boxing, and Emanuel Augustus is the ultimate journeyman. I love him, the man was heart and swagger.

For today's fighter (technically yesterday's), I like Floyd Mayweather. If you know what to look out for, a Mayweather fight is not boring. But if he does fight in MMA, I hope to see him lose by brutal submission, so maybe I don't like him that much...

I don't follow current active boxers as closely, but I have a soft spot for Rigondeaux. I hope he picks himself up after the Lomachenko disaster, but it seems unlikely.

Apart from boxing youtube channels and twitter accounts, may as well recommend boxing reads too.

I recently read Uncrowned Champion by Joey and Gina Giambra (Mr Giambra passed away just last month), The Gods of War by Springs Toledo, and Friday's Heroes: Willie Pep Remembers by Willie Pep and Robert Sacchi. All superb reads.

Boxing writing at its best is as sweet as boxing itself.
