Highlight of Shawn Porter's career! What a win, world champion.
I think Porter might have been the underdog in this fight, Alexander had the better resume, had beaten Maidana, Matthysse, Urango, Kotelnik, and Porter, with the draw against Julio Diaz, and with no wins that really compared to Alexander's best wins, apart from possibly the second Diaz fight, and Gomez, which came close, but Gomez was well past his prime I think. Porter was the unbeaten fighter in this fight, he was maybe mentally in a better place, his tactics were awkward, maybe a little bit dirty, and early in the fight, he just ran at Alexander, seemed reckless, but it worked for him, Alexander couldn't punish him for rushing in, could never hurt Porter, and Porter didn't gas, he proved to have great stamina, and whenever he needed to take a rest, Porter, he didn't need long to take his foot off the gas. Porter's output was really important, when he ran forward, especially in the second half of the fight, Alexander landed with a good shot or two, but Porter would walk through it, and throw 3, 4 shots, land at least a couple of heavy shots, and because Porter's foot speed on the offensive was so fast, Alexander couldn't escape the range, and Porter made him exchange, it was always Alexander who really got roughed up. Alexander did pivot at times, make Porter miss, land the possibly sometimes more accurate shots by countering with a fast shot or two, but it was never enough because of the output and relentlessness of Porter, Porter didn't gas, Alexander couldn't get his respect when he hit him clean, even when he walked right into a punch, and he could not outhustle Porter in close, not by a long way.

I thought Alexander was going to school him, but Porter did really well, fought the right type of fight, and became a world champion.

I thought it was quite close, I didn't think it was like a shutout.
