Fight Notes:

John Conteh scored a 15 round decision over fellow Briton Chris Finnegan and won Finnegan's British and Commonwealth titles. There were no knockdowns, but Conteh had Finnegan wobbly in the 10th and 13th rounds. In the 10th, Finnegan's legs buckled after he was caught with a right uppercut. Moments later, Conteh opened a cut over Finnegan's right eye." - Associated PressReferee Sid Nathan was the sole scoring official and he scored it 74 1/4 to 73 1/2 for Conteh. Conteh was the reigning European light heavyweight champion, so the Euro, British and Commonwealth titles were on the line in this contest.

rds 13 & 15 close and real competitive Finnegan came on strong in the second half of the 15 and may have won just on aggression and effective work rate
rd 9 is the definition of a swing rd
rd 4 & 7 Finnegan did just about enough to edge em for me whereas most of Conteh's rds where won by cleaner margins so i could understand people having the fight for Conteh by a wider scores
