Fight Notes:

"John Conteh of Britain got up from a 1st round knockdown and retained his European light heavyweight championship when Tom Bogs of Denmark was unable to answer the bell for the 7th round because of a cut Tuesday night. Bogs knocked Conteh down in the opening round with a looping right hand. Conteh struggled up, took an eight-count and lasted out the round although he still appeared dazed when the bell rang. Conteh then settled down and gradually took control with sharp jabs, solid left hooks and right uppercuts. A few seconds before the bell ended the 6th round, blood began spouting from above the left eye of Bogs." -Associated Press

Also on this card were scheduled 10 rounders featuring Joe Bugner v Pat Duncan and Johnny Clark v Chuck Spencer

rd 1 Conteh was winning before getting dropped but wasnt dominating by both my standards to the extent in either i could reduce it to a 10-9 rd but it was borderline enough the thought did enter my head

rd 4 a 10-10 rd Conteh is having success early scoring with a pleotra of landed jabs couple of em snapping Bogs head back Bogs is able to landing a grazing right tries the same trick again moments later but Conteh shows textbook old school skills to slip the right "to the outside" i felt Conteh opened up in the middle minute getting through with a flashy 1-2 catching Bogs with power shots at mid range later blocking Bogs power shots at close range and on the inside using his forearms that was until Conteh lost a big lead in the rd on my card getting caught with a flush 2-1-2 near center ring then getting punked by Bogs again with a right at close range before Bogs establishes distance backing up making Conteh miss his left hook..that right gave Bogs a slight lead on my card at this point which Conteh evens up again with jabs including a stiff one that drives Boggs to the ropes but Conteh isnt able to snatch the lead back wit power punches after that before the final bell so i had to edge that swing rd to Bogs by the slightest margin

dont mind being in the minority there
