IBF and WBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko defends his crown against slick American Eddie Chambers with a classic knockout. Tired of Klitschko leaning on him as early as the second round, Chambers picks Klitschko up and body slams him to the canvas. Klitschko responds by wobbling Chambers with a straight right hand later in the round. After a lengthy delay due to a tear in Chambers' glove before the tenth round, Klitschko looks to close the show in the twelfth. With ten seconds left, he scores with a left hook that slumps Chambers into the corner and sends the challenger collapsing on his face between the ropes to the ring apron. Referee Genaro Rodriguez quickly counts the unconscious Chambers out.

What a KO by one of the greatest Heavyweight Champions of all time.

rorschach's picture

Fantastic performance by Wlad, he fought the perfect fight against a fighter that was just looking to survive. He boxed masterfully, listened to his corner and followed the late great Emanuel Steward's instructions to a T, and blasted Chambers out of there with a fantastic KO punch when Manny told him he didn't need another BS decision with another fighter that shouldn't be going the 12 round distance with him. I believe this fight, was towards the beginning of Wlad's prime.

dizzy's picture

Fantastic performance by Wladimir. I rate Chambers highly, at his best (before the injuries slowed him down) he was a very formidable fighter, he was exceptionally fast, dangerous counterpuncher, had great upper body movement and was able to easily switch from defense to offense and back to defense, he beat a handful of heavyweight contenders and even when he lost, he gave his opponents a tough challenge. By the mid-to-late rounds Wladimir figured Chambers out, he made almost no defensive mistakes, never gave Chambers any opening and kept him at the end of his jab for most of the fight. Chambers tried to piss Wladimir off by taking him down like a grappler whenever in a clinch, but if anything it made Wladimir more focused on making as few mistakes as possible. In the championship rounds, the great Manny Steward saw that Chambers is basically on the survival mode and urged Wladimir to step up the pace. With only seconds left before the end of the fight, Wlad threw a left hook, at first it seems like he missed but after watching slow-motion replay you notice that the shot landed precisely on the temple, no wonder Chambers was unconscious for a few minutes.
