What do you make of Berlanga? Another first-round KO, I'd like to see Top Rank put him in versus some tough journeymen. Hard for me to say much about him right now, he needs rounds but his power is definitely impressive.

I don't know. I think PR boxing is in a serious talent drought. I mean Berlanga looked impressive and all but you can't really make much out of a guy that's just KO'ing guys in 1 round. Remember Victor Oganov? Tyrone Brunson? Both of which where winning all by 1st round KO. Where are they now? Do you hear there names dropped in any debates?

Exactly, I want to see them step him up. I think I would be surprised if Berlanga failed that badly, but I see where you are coming from. Do you have hopes for Subriel Matias?

Yes and No. I do think Subriel Matias IS the best Puerto Rican prospect out there right now. However, after what happened with him and Dadashev that could mess him up mentally. Many fighters that are responsible for the demise of another fighter more often than not aren't the same afterwards.

I think he will be very good. Big, strong, good speed and variety. Definitely needs a big step up. WIll be a problem in the division, but wonder what his route to a title would be.

He's a while out from that so I don't think they have to worry about it yet, by the time he gets there who knows what the situation will be. Do you know if he is planning on staying at Middleweight? He's only 22 which is why I ask. He would be a really big Middleweight and still an above-average sized Super Middleweight.

I think he ends up at 168. I think he's 2 years or so from a title shot, so they need to start that build now. I don't see him trying to hold on at 160 as he steps up and ages.

Makes sense. I hope Berlanga pans out, boxing will be better if there is another big Puerto Rican fighter.
