Comments

hey atleast this fight is on free television. good fight

Champion97's picture

Prediction,

I think this will be an entertaining fight, perhaps not a classic, but a good one, I think Garcia will be pushed hard by Guerrero, challenged by him, I think the southpaw stance of Guerrero will be an issue for Garcia, and will be tested, but I think he will win, I think Garcia will look for a big left hook finish to the fight, we know that Floyd Mayweather and Keith Thurman have both won landslide victories over Robert Guerrero, but neither have stopped him (despite Thurman putting a truly brutal beating on him after pancaking him), Garcia is looking for the big fights, it has been suggested that could fight Porter or Thurman (two fighters I believe are a class above him), and he would be an underdog going into these fights, but if he could be the first to stop Guerrero then this would be great for him, but I don't think he can stop Guerrero, there is a reason that Thurman didn't manage the stoppage, 'the ghost' is as tough as they come, I think he can give Garcia a lot of problems, he is the kind of fighter who will put the pressure on you, and keep it on you, he has a good variety of punches, he is a tiring opponent, he is always effective to the body, he always sustains a high work rate. I think the early rounds in this fight will be tentative, and disputed, but I think Garcia will use his superior technical skills to dominate a streak of middle rounds, I think these rounds will stand out, I think he will win so many exchanges by counter punching effectively, he is always successful by connecting with shots in between shots from his opponent in a flurry of punches, and I think this tactic will be a big part of his key to victory, I think he will tire, and Guerrero will walk through his left hook with confidence, although I can see Guerrero's' face becoming a mess, I think the last few rounds will be close and competitive, I think it will be a brave effort from Robert Guerrero but there will only be one winner and that will be Danny Garcia by unanimous decision, 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111.

It is difficult to see where Garcia would go from here in the event of a defeat, the pressure really is on him to win this fight, I don't think Guerrero can do his reputation any harm unless he is stopped, and there is no pressure or even any expectation for him to win this fight, but a win would be massive for him, to be honest, Garcia will probably have to a better job in this fight than I predict him to if he is to really impress the pundits, potential future opponents and boxing public.

The press conferences for this fight should be entertaining

Champion97's picture

Yeah man, should be hilarious, Angel will probably talk as much ever, and I'm sure Reuben Guerrero will not take any insults lying down, do you agree with my prediction for the fight?

I agree with your prediction. I also think that Garcia will win but not stop or ko Guerrero. I'm kind of excited fo watch the fight but I want to see Garcia fight better opponents. Like a rematch with khan would be good. When do you think porter vs Thurman will happen?

Champion97's picture

To be honest, I'm not sure it will any more, I'm not sure what is taking Thurman so long, I'm not dying to see that fight to be honest, I would rather see Thurman fight Bradley, and I don't understand why Shawn hasn't been considered an option for Kell Brook, he deserves that rematch, I thought he deserved to win the first one, it was very close, but I thought he won, I think Erroll Spencer Jr is an option for Porter and Thurman.

People talk about the difference between good fighters and great fighters often, but people argue about what that means, I reckon in the welterweight division you have your good fighters, Paulie Malignaggi, Devon Alexander, Robert Guerrero etc, then you have your very good fighters, Lucas Matthysse, Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia, Chris Algieri etc, then you have your great fighters, Amir Khan, Kell Brook, Tim Bradley, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter and Manny Pacquiao (Pacquiao top of that list) and (in a world where he is not retired) Floyd Mayweather Jr in a lonely category of the one and only ultra great fighter, would you agree with that?

Errol spence is a good option for porter or Thurman. Thurmans said he would give him a fight. I would agree with you with the level of fighters. Mayweathers definitely in a league of his own. What time is the Anthony Joshua fight on and what channel?

Champion97's picture

Skysports box office. The main event will probably not be in until late, the show starts at 6 or 7, the main event will probably be at around 10:30, maybe 11:00. BTW I think Joshua will make easy work of Whyte, I've seen Whyte, I don't think he is defensively strong, I think Joshua is more athletic, he is obviously physically stronger, Joshua is clearly more technically skilled, as we saw not only in the Olympics but I thought the little bit of skill involved in their amateur fight was shown by Joshua, Whyte, in my opinion is a bit of a nutter, I think he is relying on Joshua being scared of him, he has even suggested they fight in the street like criminals, I think Whyte to Joshua is what Klitschko wanted Fury to be to him, 'he talks a lot, every one has a plan til they get hit', I think Whyte will go when he gets hit, in devastating fashion, I don't know what would prevent Joshua from doing it in one round to be honest, what ear your thoughts on it?, and what do think will happen between Eubank Jr and O'Sullivan? I can see Eubank putting a brutal 12 round beating on him in a one sided but competitive fight, I think it will go the distance.

Ok, thanks. Hopefully I get to see the fight. I'm thinking this is going to be a close fight. I think so because whyte beat Joshua in the amateurs. I think that Joshua will get the win though. For the Eubank vs o Sullivan fight I agree that it's going to be a brutal one sided fight by Eubank.

Champion97's picture

Right, many people agree, Deontay Wilder even predicts Whyte to win, but to be honest, other than the mindset of a warrior (which I'm sure he has) and serious aggression towards his opponent, I can't see anything he brings to the fight, I just feel as though Whyte has nothing more than a puncher's chance because if you look at Kevin Johnson, solid defence, far better than than of Dillian Whyte, and granite chin, he got bulldozed, knocked spark out underneath the ropes by Joshua, he is tough, and he talked a lot just like Whyte, but look what happened to him, just out of curiosity, what attributes do think Whyte possess that could trouble Joshua? I'm very interested. I think the amateur fight will work in Joshua ' favour if anyone's, that was 6 years ago, it just seemed as if Joshua was inexperienced in dealing with an opponent as reckless and tough as Whyte, I thought the technical skill in that fight (what there was of it) was displayed by Joshua. What do you think of Tyson's decision to fight Klitschko again and sacrifice the IBF belt rather than fight Glaskov and keep it? I think the made the right decision, I think boxing careers are too short to waste time with easy opponents.

How was the Anthony Joshua fight? I missed it because I dont have sky sports. I was shocked to see Roy Jones go down like he did against Maccarinelli. I think he should just retire, hes already one of the greatest to ever live he doesn't need to prove anything left.

Champion97's picture

Luke Campbell lost in an upset split decision, Whyte proved me wrong and gave Joshua a good fight, but Joshua was ahead after 6 rounds, and then he destroyed him with with a spectacular right uppercut in round 7, Kevin Mitchell got knocked out brutally, Tony a Bellew edged out his opponent, and Eubank schooled and beat up O'Sullivan for 7 rounds, Paschal Collins called off the fight after 7, it was one of the greatest nights of boxing ever.

If Robert Guerrero isn't a real opponent then you must think there is a minuscule amount of good fighters around.

Acerbitas's picture

Garcia by close UD (115-112, 115-113, 116-112) but if he is in the best condition of his life I would not rule out late stoppage in the last 4 rounds but I doubt it because Guerrero is too tough in my opinion.

Champion97's picture

Fairly similar to my prediction , I don't know about you, but I would love to see 'the ghost' win.

I've never actually seen Guerrero fight before so if an impression is to be made on me this might be the fight to do it. Apparently Amir Khan is the mandatory for the winner and.. well.. lol... Garcia KO.. Round 4

Champion97's picture

I think Khan would comfortably and dare I say it easily beat Garcia in a rematch, you agree?

Acerbitas's picture

I can't say anything until I see this performance

Champion58's picture

OK mate. My dad (Champion58) just scored Bugner vs Cooper, and had it to Cooper by four points, same as you and Mike.

Are you staying up to watch Garcia vs Guerrero? I think Garcia has a lot to prove, I think he has won one too many disputable decisions against guys who are considered to be a class below him, but as you say, this fight will tell us all a lot about Garcia as a fighter.

Acerbitas's picture

I wasn't planning on. Recording it and watching it in the morning.

Acerbitas's picture

I believe this fight should have been a majority decision or majority draw. Both guys poured their hearts out and it was VERY close. As per usual the next big thing and his power shots must get a wide points victory (cough CANELO cough)

I didn't score it...but it felt like Danny won the fight. Kudos to him for staying sharp and focused under the serious pressure inflicted by Guerrero. Even though Guerreros' agrresive style is crowd pleasing, it doesn't work for him at all. I know his father is his trainer, but if he wants to stay in the game for a couple of years, he should look for someone who could refine his offensive technique.

Beautifully measured performance from Garcia; methodically picked Guerrero apart

I think Danny's pure boxing ability is underrated.

Champion97's picture

It definitely is. I hope Porter vs Garcia happens.
