Prediction,

Should be an entertaining fight.

I think Price and Allen are fairly well matched, but I think Price is a good British level fighter, and Allen is a good European level fighter, so I think he's a level above.

Price is bigger, much taller, has a lot more reach, and he hits a lot harder than Allen, has that devastating power that Allen doesn't have, but Allen has the much better chin, hasn't been down, Price has been down 5 times, he is vulnerable, he has a poor chin, and his recovery is very slow.

Allen has taken some damage in his career, but not that much, and Price has a lot of miles, has been knocked out cold twice, beaten up and stopped on his feet twice, he can't afford to take much more punishment. Allen is probably in his prime, at 27, he seems to have learned from his mistakes, learned from his losses, seems to be working well with Mick Marsden and Darren Barker. Price is 36, not old for a big heavyweight, but not young, and he is certainly not a young 36, so he is past his prime.

Neither fighter is that technically skilled, Price has never used his reach well overall, his defence is poor, Allen is sloppy, doesn't cut off the ring, doesn't break down his opponent, and his defence is poor as well. I think Allen is definitely the more likely to improve his technical skills, I think Price has the reach which you can always use to some extent, but I don't think he will make much better use of it now than he has in the past.

I think in the early rounds, Allen will be on the front foot, he'll pressure Price, try to attack the body, but he will walk into the big shots from Price. It will be interesting to see if Allen respects Price's power early, he has been stopped twice himself, and Price is a devastating puncher, so it will be interesting to see how Allen takes Price's power. I think the early rounds will be fought at a high tempo, Price might be ahead after 4 rounds.

Price always gasses after 4 about rounds, if he keeps at it, training wise, prepares as best he can, he might tire a round later, but well before the late rounds, he will blow a gasket, he doesn't find a second wind, and once Price has emptied his tank in the first 4 or 5 rounds, he's done, and I think if Price doesn't stop Allen inside 4 rounds, he can't win the fight, because Allen's will have more in the tank in the mid rounds, Price will be there to be hit, and Allen will break him down, hit him clean from body to head, and stop him.

I think for 4 rounds it will be a competitive, close fight, fun to watch, but Allen will take over the fight from round 5 or 6 onwards, stop Price in 7 or 8 rounds.

SalTnutZ1's picture

I think this one will be very fun, for however long it lasts. Price is better technically, but Allen, even when short notice and losing his tank as well, always finds away to make a go of it, has a good chin to get through the fire, and has that big right hand that can even it out for him. If he had a better head and camp earlier in his career, would have been interesting to see how he turned out. Either way, doing pretty well for himself.

Champion97's picture

Doing very well, Allen, he knows he isn't world level, but no reason he can't be in good domestic fights like this on good bills, and I think he can win a European title, he's only 27 as well, so he if he improves a lot, he might even get himself a world title shot, but definitely at domestic level, he is doing well. Haney vs Campbell is a possibility, what do you think of that for a fight?

SalTnutZ1's picture

It will be an interesting one should it happen. A lot of potential fights in the works with Loma, Commey, Lopez,Campbell, Haney, Abdullaev, all in the works. Plus Berchelt and Tank possibly moving up soon. I think Campbell-Haney will be good. I’d edge Campbell now, as he is slick, long, and I don’t think Haney has the pop to hurt him enough, to make up for the shots he’ll have to take to get to Campbell. Depending on how Haney looks next, I could flip 60-40 his way. Just one of those fights.

I would be so happy for Pricey if he could a KO in this fight! Lost all respect for Allen after his BS recent comments about AJ quitting, and you have to love David Price, would be one of the best results I've ever seen if he could get the win!

Lol and guess what?

He just quit Vs Price. That's karma

Let's go ya big plumber from Liverpool! Show the world Pricey is still a force to be reckoned with.

Champion97's picture

Pricey's done it! One of the best results I've ever seen! So happy for David Price, he deserves this win, he should be a very proud man, and he should get a lot more credit, should be taken a lot more seriously as a fighter. This is the best win of Price's career, I think he will fight Chisora on the Ruiz vs Joshua II undercard.

Price was struggling with the pace in the second half of that fight, but Allen couldn't control the pace, and he was tired as well, couldn't keep the pressure on Price, so Price was able to keep boxing well, and he still had something in the tank even at the end, he boxed very well, used his experience, mentally, was composed, didn't get drawn into tye wrong fight, didn't have any other mental issues, didn't burn up a lot of nervous energy, he was smart, but he was aggressive enough, used his jab to set up the right uppercut, that shot was there for him all night, Allen couldn't see it coming.

Price doesn't have a lot of fights left, maybe just one or two, but he has turned his career around with this win.

I think chosora will fight parker who will price next opponent I don't know

Wow Pricey gave him a whooping and then made him quit. Didn't think he would have been able to. Figured he was gonna gass and get stopped. But instead he schooled and battered Allen like some battered union rings!

War Pricey!

maybe price vs hughie
