Re: Jaime Munguia vs Dennis Hogan
Prediction,
I think Munguia is fighting again too soon, I think 2 fights per year, 3 absolute, maximum, is how often a world champion should fight. 2-3 months should be enough time for Munguia to have recovered from his last fight, but it is hard to be recovered, and have a good enough camp physically and mentally, good enough preparation for your opponent with less than 4 months between fights. I think Munguia's performance will suffer because he is fighting too soon after his last fight, but not too much, I think he has the potential to be a great fighter, he is improving with every fight, I think he is levels above Hogan, and I think he will dominate this fight.
Hogan is not bad, he is 34-1, good record, but I don't think he is good, the only names on his record I recognise are Jimmy Kelly and Jack Culcay. Culcay beat Hogan by a wide UD, Culcay is a decent fighter, but it is hard to rate Hogan highly at world level, he beat Jimmy Kelly, but Kelly is probably not a top 300 fighter, I remember him fighting Liam Smith for the title Munguia has now, on the Lee vs Saunders undercard, he lost every round, and got stopped in 7.
I think Munguia stops Hogan, Munguia has good power, definitely a puncher, Inoue and Smith lasted 12 rounds because they have granite chins, Hogan has been down at least once, he might have a good chin, but I don't see him soaking up the power for 12 rounds, probably not even 8. I think Hogan will be tough, get past 6 rounds, but it will be a one sided fight from the start, Munguia will win every round.
I think Munguia should move up to 160 after this fight, I'm surprised he hasn't already, making 154, for a young fighter his size is draining and even dangerous, he's probably a natural middleweight, and 160 is a much more competitive division, more fights there.

Hearing that if Munguia wins, and Texiera wins, and no unification can be made(which is unlikely with Hurd targeting the winner of Harrison-Charlo II), that they may match up for Munguia’s next, and possible final defense at 154.

Man....only one card in favor of Munguia so far. Got to be crushing for a guy like Hogan to have the best performance of his career and earn a world title that no one expected only to fall short due to money fighter favoritism.

Hogan made me a fan with this fight, terrible he didn't get the decision or atleast a draw. He put it all on the line out there and had a great performance.
This fight was awesome - FOTY candidate no doubt about it

Man I'm getting tired of the A-side always getting gift decisions. There is no way to talk around it anymore. This is just pure bribery. The judges always score in favour of the hometown fighter in relatively close fights. Munguia should have lost this one. Like Canelo, he seems to be protected by Oscar and Goldenboy. I'm really tired of all of it. They destroyed this kid Hogan's dreams with corruption. FFS

Me too man. I watch half the amount of fights I used to because of this shit. When dazn goes up in price I'm cancelling my subscription. There is no way anybody is getting a fair shake against hearns or delahoyas fighters. Fights feel almost predetermined if there isn't a KO. Might as well be watching wwe.

Re: Jaime Munguia vs Dennis Hogan
Munguia has had 5 fights in one year, 3 of them went the distance, he is fighting too often, there is a reason he doesn't seem to be improving, 2 months between fights is not enough, he has no time to prepare for the style of his opponent, and he admitted he was drained to some degree in this fight. Munguia should go to 160, and fight twice a year, do more sparring and preparation in the gym for each fight.

Re: Jaime Munguia vs Dennis Hogan
In my opinion, that was an absolute robbery, that last round was a very close one, I can easily see it being close, it was very close in the first half, but I thought Hogan clearly won everything from 8-11, Munguia looked drained, Hogan was getting off first and finding the target, Munguia was frustrated, couldn't pin him down. I don't think it's fair to score this as anything but a win for Hogan, I don't know if I'm wrong, if the judges are wrong, influenced by the crowd, or if they were corrupt, but I thought this was a clear victory for Hogan, and Munguia got an absolute gift. Hogan made a name for himself, built his reputation, this will be remembered as a very controversial decision, I hope he gets another world title shot, whether he can repeat this performance, I don't know, but he definitely deserves to fight for a world title again.
I think Munguia has to move up, vacate his title, and target Andrade at 160, the fight can be made, air on DAZN, there are other fights for him at 160, it makes no sense for him to stay at 154, he'll have learned from this fight, he got the official win, he should move up, and fight no more than twice a year, because I think that was another factor in this fight, he didn't have enough time to rest, recover and train physically but also prepare for his opponent.
