Re: Viktor Postol vs Mohamed Mimoune
Prediction,
Good match up, interesting fight.
Postol has been at the higher level, is the proven world level fighter, has the wins over Lundy and Matthysse, fought Crawford, proved against Taylor he wasn't finished.
I saw Mimoune against Eggington, boxed well, seemed a class above Eggington, no idea why that was a split decision. Mimoune is a very good European level fighter, he proved that against Eggington, also beating Franck Petitjean, he has a few decent, non-European title wins as well, but he hasn't fought at world level, this is a big step up for him, he hasn't fought anyone on Postol's level.
Postol is 35, he proved against Taylor he wasn't shot, he won't be able to repeat that performance, but how close he can come to repeating it, is the question. Mimoune is 31, he is a lot younger than Postol, time is on his side, and if Postol has dipped enough, if the Taylor fight took a lot out of him, and he is a fair bit worse than he was when he fought Taylor, Mimoune might well have the beating of him.
Mimoune has 2 losses, but neither were title fights, his last loss was in 2013. Mimoune is not a puncher, he has 2 stoppages, but with that lack of power, means doing the rounds, and he has been 12 rounds, 5 times on the spin, so the 12 round distance, in itself, isn't something Postol has on his side.
Postol did great against Taylor, he is a world level fighter, Postol, if that hasn't taken too much out of him, he might still have enough to beat Mimoune, might be about levels.
This a very tough one to call, I think it will be a close fight, but I think Postol will win, maybe by MD.
