Not bad by Edwards but you'd wish he would get the stoppage versus a guy of Moreno's level. Fast Eddie has talked about Edwards unifying with Mthalane but I don't see them doing that, it is likely still too risky. He won't even mention Tanaka's name for obvious reasons. Edwards vs. Selby seems to be the logical next fight.

Yeah about that Edwards vs. Selby fight

Hahaha. Just saw that. Got bodied. Those lower classes are such crap shoots.

Gold's picture

Especially when the favored guy is going to the underdog's hometown which is over 8000 feet above sea level. Big upset regardless.

Selby reminds me of Paddy Barnes and Tom Stalker, the age aspect is important, but also, some very good amateurs don't make good pros, proves the significant difference between amateur and professional boxing.

Gold's picture

To be fair he did beat Rosales widely which is more than Barnes and Stalker can say. I am willing to give him at least a partial benefit of the doubt for losing on the road versus Martinez but it is difficult to come back from a loss like that.

Champion97's picture

True, not saying he isn't the best of the 3, but as a professional, he was never likely to do as well as he did when he was an amateur. SkySports are accused of bias, but I think over here, BoxNation are more biased, they had people believing Gavin, Barnes, Stalker were that good at world level, they insisted Liam Smith beats the Charlos all day, and I think it was more than just hyping up their fighters. Bias is a problem in the UK, we have a lot of loyall fans who are great at supporting fellow brits, but there is a lot of bias, I can't believe how much of a chance Khan is getting against Crawford.

Gold's picture

Do people actually think Khan can win? Or that he can have success? I think it may even be a majority even outside the UK that believe Khan can have success early.

Champion97's picture

Johnny Nelson says, 'Khan can pull it off', not, 'wish him all the best, big ask, opportunity of a lifetime', like we are saying about Crolla against Lomachencko. Yes, but there is a big difference between thinking he can have success early, and thinking he will win. I think his chin does his reputation as a boxer no harm, when actually, as a technical fighter, he is overrated if anything, I think speed is at it's best in the early rounds, and timing takes over in the mid rounds, and against Canelo, if that shot hadn't knocked him out, just hurt him, and he'd recovered, Canelo would have out boxed him down the stretch, but the game plan against Khan is about finding the chin with one shot, at this level, if you have even a fair amount of power, that's all you need to swing the fight in your favour, but I think Crawford is as good if not better than Canelo, technically, and Khan is worse than he was against Canelo.

Gold's picture

Yeah, that's my point, that having success early and thinking he can win are two very different things. Most people outside the UK don't think he can actually win. It doesn't surprise me Nelson thinks that, he is a terrible analyst. Probably right about Canelo vs. Khan and Crawford vs. Khan, but Canelo has a big size advantage on Khan that Crawford won't have. Khan is a good technical fighter in that his strengths are really strong but his limitations are obvious which will ultimately cost him versus Crawford.

Champion97's picture

To say Nelson is a terrible analyst, in my opinion, is unfair, I get why you think that, he can get carried away, 'was Wilder scared off by AJ'?, was stupid, I think he exaggerated Kell Brook's power before the Spence fight, I have learned some things from listening to him break fights down, he has the knowledge and experience, he is no Skip Bayless, let's get that right, but he can be biased.

I agree on Khan, I'm sticking with the early finish, but I will not be shocked if it goes to the mid rounds.
