Okolie vs. ancient Lebedev for the vacant WBA title...great

I guess you were just upset about the 47 wasted minutes when you said 'Okolie sucks, I don't want to see him fight, ever again', understandable, but Okolie, like Buatsi, needs a step up, the Askin fight was a bad clash of styles, a horrible tactical combination and case of a bad referee. Lebedev vs Okolie is a great match up in my opinion.

Everyone was upset, it was not an exaggeration to say that was one of the worst fights in some time. The sign of a fighter that is one dimensional is that they stall out versus certain styles of fighters below a world level which is what happened to Okolie. It was a bad referee because Okolie should have been DQ'd. Hopefully, they make the Gassiev vs. Lebedev rematch for the vacant title, Okolie does not deserve a title shot off beating domestic fighters.

It was absolute rubbish in terms of entertainment value, not disagreeing on that.

I get it, because they are British level fighters, Chamberlain, Camacho, etc, but who has Buatsi been fighting?, same level of opponents, only difference is, in your words, 'eye test', that makes a difference, but both are finding it too easy at British level. I don't know if he should have been disqualified, both were guilty of infringements, but there wasn't a lot of malice, just an ugly mess of a fight with a useless referee, but to say he sucks, just seems like you are taking out your frustration of watching a horrible fight, on a fighter who still won, and I think Askin is underrated, had more experience. Based on the bad tactics, what I've seen from him in other fights, I don't take too much from the Askin fight in terms of rating Okolie.

In my opinion, Okolie being very questionable as a future world champion, and his relative inexperience, would make it a more interesting and less predictable fight against a past prime Lebedev. The Gassiev rematch is a good one, if Gassiev was still undefeated, it wouldn't be a great match up because when the younger fighter wins the first fight they are likely to win the second fight more easily, but Gassiev is coming off a very one sided loss.
