Can a judge ignore a knockdown?

Champion97's picture

Experts strongly advise against it. The referee getting it right is very important.

thanks for the answer, I'm sorry about my english It's not my native language.

Champion97's picture

No problem.

And no worries, you seem to speak English very well!

Would you like to be in the prediction competition?

Champion97's picture

Awesome, you have missed the first fight, but only 1, and only 2 people got that one right, here is the vault for the rest of the month,

Bryant Jennings vs Oscar Rivas
Demetrius Andrade vs Artur Akavov
Jorge Linares vs Pablo Cesar Cano
Manny Pacquiao vs Adrien Broner
Badou Jack vs Marcus Browne
Rau'shee Warren vs Nordine Oubaali
Keith Thurman vs Josesito Lopez
Claudio Marrero vs Tugstoght Nyambayar
Jaime Munguia vs Takeshi Inoue

And could you specify UD, SD/MD (worth the same amount of points), Early, Mid, Late.

If you get the outcome right, that's at least 2 points, but if you get KO/decision wrong, that's just 2, if you get the decision right, that's 4 points if you get unanimous/split wrong, 5 if you get unanimous right, 6 if you get split or majority right because they happen less often. If you get KO or TKO right, that's at least 3 points, 5 if you get early/mid/late right.

Any questions?

my predictions for this week-en
jennings early KO
akavov MD
Linares late KO
Pacquiao UD
Jack UD
Oubaali SD

I have one but it's not about the predictions. I think klitschko should have been disqualified in this fight what's your opinion about that?

Champion97's picture

I understand why you think that, because the fight was a mess, and he wrestled Povetkin to the canvas, but at the same time, I don't think Klitschko should have been disqualified, for 3 reasons, one, his tactics were illegal, but not malicious, two, the referee is more to blame in my opinion because in boxing, you do what you have to, even if that means fighting a little bit dirty, but the deal is, you can't complain when you lose a point, then another, and are officially warned, but when the referee is not punishing you, and you are getting away with your dirty tactics, why stop?, it is the referee's responsibility to keep it clean, when he docked a point, Klitschko did stop fighting dirty of I remember rightly, bur the referee should have done that earlier, it would have made the fight more interesting. Third reason is Povetkin, he wasn't complaining, didn't mention the tactics of Klitschko after the fight as far as I know, and that's because he was guilty of dirty tactics as well, tying Klitschko up, getting roughing, locking his arm and smothering his work, because fighting on the inside, not letting Klitschko get that daylight, not letting him pick you off with that jab at range all night, that's a good tactic as the shorter fighter, problem is, when one guy does that, the other, imposes his physical strength so he can't work on the inside, the refree doesn't keep it clean, doesn't do his job properly, and the styles don't gel, tactics are a bad combination, and the fight is bad.

Which upcoming fight are you most looking forward to?

if you looking only the fight who are already book I would say garcia vs spence

Champion97's picture

Same here, can Mikey do it?, it is a big ask, I think he might be simply too small, but he has a chance. Does Khan give Crawford problems?

I think Crawford is overesstimate and I predict an Amir Khan's victory

Champion97's picture

Woah, I think an early finish, mismatch. I'm 99% sure Crawford wins, 95% sure it's a stoppage, maybe 80% sure it's a mismatch, interesting, we will see who is right!

Do do you have those predictions or do you want to wait and think before you write them?

I hope big fights in heavyweight to see if my idea about who is the best in this division is confim

I will wait some fighter fight with an injury due to preparation there is a too long way before this fught

what type of boxers do you prefer?

Champion97's picture

I like to see output in boxing, it's overlooked, but it is important, but really I like watching all styles, you?

I prefer tecnichians espacialy in heaviest weight classes

for example I think Wild'er's boxing style is horroful. I'm not really sure we can call that a boxing style anyway.

Champion97's picture

I don't agree on that, because that level of power is what you need to get a good old fashioned KO, it is part of boxing, and people can say what they want about Wilder's technique, but at the end of the day, Wilder gets the win, he is not just a puncher, he has a lot of method behind his punches, he is adaptable, but pure punching power makes boxing exciting, because however technically sloppy a fighter might be reltaive to his opponent, if he has the power of a Wilder, Matthysse, Lemieux (I think Wilder is technically better than the other two), their opponent hasn't won until they've won, because one good shot, and it could be over.

I also say that because punch is a gift he doesn't need to work to have it. I lot a people think Joshua is the best heavyweight I don't think so

Champion97's picture

Phenomenal hand speed (Russell, Khan, Linares), perfect timing!, incredible reflexes, these are gifts, a great chin, incredible powers of recovery (to a degree), these are gifts, height and reach, a 3 stone weight advantage like Fury had against Wilder, gifts. Mayweather's level of timing, you don't get taught that, and when we use Wilder as an example, let's be fair, if there are fighters who don't have to work as hard for whatever reason, Wilder is not one of them! Wilder has had to work extremely hard to build the stamina he has, he gives it everything, lands with as much power as he possibly can, and the way he battled through to beat Luis Ortiz and tie it up against Fury, you cannot say Wilder doesn't have to work hard.

Fury is the most talented, but he also has the least dicipline, is the least professional, and will always be a loose cannon, Joshua and Wilder live the life in between camps. I think Joshua is the best at the minute, improving with every fight, there have been no 'mediocre performances' in my opinion, he has just stepped his opposition up in his last 4 fights.

I'm not objective about wilder because I don't like is boxing about joshua he refuses (he and eddie hearn) to fight kubrat pulev to take a lot of money and an easy win and th slow and not in good shape jarell miller what a joke!

Champion97's picture

Sorry what?, what's a joke? Joshua has done everything he can be expected of, he beat Klitschko, beat Parker, beat Povetkin, and now he is pushing for the Wilder fight, he has a lot of options, but you can't please everybody, every fighter goes through this in their careers, they take all this complaining from the public, but at the end of the day, they haven't killed themselves in the gym, strived to get here, just to half-ass their careers, that's why Joshua is calling out Wilder, at this level, champions only fight twice a year.

I think you don't uderstand what I trying to say I don't mean Joshua is a joke I simply say the decison fight miller is all about money and even if I uderstand(if I was him I will do the same) as a fan I'm angry about this

Champion97's picture

Ok, there might be a language barrier here, but no worries, I understand you.

I get it, but Joshua vs Miller is a great fight, but I do strongly agree that Whyte nkt getting the shot is a joke! Because who has Miller beaten?, Whyte beat Parker, sparked Chisora, he deserves the shot.

I think Pulev deverse a chance fist he only lost to klitschko and is he is at the en of his carreer I doesn't have time to wait

Champion97's picture

That's more about how much he needs more than how much he actually deserves it. I think Whyte is ahead of Pulev because of the Parker win, but Pulev did beat Chisora as well, did beat Hughie, so he is ahead of Miller, agree on that.

whyte has already lost to joshua that's anover reason to give the first shot to pulev

Champion97's picture

Well that doesn't mean much now does it?, it was 3 years ago, they were both at British and Commonwealth level, it was a great fight, Whyte hurt Joshua, and more improtantly, Whyte beat Parker, that is a better win than any of Pulev's wins, Whyte has worked his way up, and he is ahead of Pulev.

and pulev was already booked against joshua but he was injured so takam toook his place so it's logic tha he get a shot

Champion97's picture

Good point, but when you look at what they've done in the last two years, you really think Pulev deserves the shot more than Whyte?, even though Whyte beat Parker, Chisora Twice and spakred him the last time?, because I don't. In my opinion, Pulev is ahead of Miller, Ortiz, etc, but behind Whyte

Champion97's picture

Well I disagree.

I'm shocked you think Khan beats Crawford, I honestly think it is a mismatch, you think Crawford will underestimate him, but what are your other reasons?, because of you think there is as much in it as I do, Crawford could underestimate him, not even have a camp and it still wouldn't cost him the fight, I don't think Crawford will underestimate Khan, he hasn't underestimated an opponent before.

I'm not a boxing specialist you surely are one

Champion97's picture

You might be right, nothing is impossible in boxing.
You make some good points, Pulev is not undeserving of the Joshua shot, he is ahead of Miller, Ortiz

I try to do everything with reflection

Champion97's picture

I respect that.

What is next for Pacquiao and Broner?

what do you think of tony yoka?

Champion97's picture

I've not seen much of him, but obviously, very good amateur, I know he struggled in an early fight, doesn't seem to be doing great as a professional, he stopped Dave Allen, which is better than I expected from him, but he has failed at least 2 drug tests, which is always disappointing, but overall, I would say if he fails any more tests, keeps going the way he's going (faces bans, etc), he won't be a world champion, whether he has the potential to, or not, and his reputation is tainted, but that won't stop him doing well in boxing if he gets his act together, I just am not as impressed by Yoka as I am by a lot of other heavyweight prospects, like I say though, I have not seen much of him. You?

he hasn't been teste positive for PED that's a problem with gelocation I'm french and as far as I know France is the only who aplicate to the letter this par of world antidoping regulation. I saw all Yoka's the are on prime time on our Tv chanel Canal +. I think his techinal skils are excellent he just need to improve his toughness and to garner more experience I belive in him

Champion97's picture

He is banned at the moment, I have he failed a test last June, and I'm sure there was one before that. Great, supporting your countryman, nothing wrong with that, we'll see if he has what it takes.

It's problem with gelocation that's called no show it's not a positive drug test. You should be more carreful with informations

Champion97's picture

I get it, but he has missed 3 tests, understand, it is unlikely you miss a test even once without trying to, the Charlos missed a test, but you need to make the testing agency aware of where you might be, you can blame technology, tell the agency where you live, where your gym is, they can come to either, test you on a random day, I don't see why Yoka has missed 3 tests, so you have to ask, is he hiding something? If you miss a test, fail to test positive, you should be punished, harsh?, so is drug use in boxing, my bad on the failed test though.

a high level sportman must indicate his timetable a cople of mouth in advance to antidoping institutions like this they can do suprised control that work with a software

Champion97's picture

But that is not the only way, they can go to various places looking for fighters (if they aren't sure where you are), you can't blame 3 or 4 missed tests on software, Yoka is responsible, fighters fail tests in boxing, fighters cheat, if a fighter misses 3 tests, there are no excuses, the doping agency will try very hard to get hold of you, geolocation is not the only option, if you miss 3 tests, that's suspicion, it is on you, and you have to take your punishment.

he was in vacation during many month in a foreing coutry

Champion97's picture

Yes, but here we go again, if you are on vacation, tell the agency!, so they acn follow you to Thailand?, no, but unless that was a very, very long vacation, by the time he got back, any traces of a PED would still be in his system. You like the guy, trying to be loyall, great, but you can't keep making excuses, he isn't banned for life, no hard evidence he took PEDs, but it seems likely he did.
