Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

Is this a resume based or head to head based ranking? Or a combination of both?

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

Yeah it's more a combination of Both, but mostly based on resume and recent performances

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

Good rankings in my opinion. My one question is where is Luis Nery?

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

Well I didn't rank him because of his controversial wins over Yamanaka...you know failing the PED tests and coming in so hugely overweight. I'll ranked him again when he beats a top 10 opponent in the division.

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

I understand that based on your criteria, but I would be very surprised if he lost to anyone outside of Inoue and even that fight he has a good chance of winning. His skills are real.

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

Here are my top 10 rankings year end, and my top 5 prospects. I’ll do a different post for each division.

1.) Anthony Joshua(IBF, WBA, WBO champ)
2.) Deontay Wilder(WBC champ)
3.) Tyson Fury(Lineal)
4.) Dillian Whyte (WBO 1, WBC 1, WBA 1)
5.) Luis Ortiz (IBF 8, WBC 3)
6.) Joseph Parker (WBC 5)
7.) Alexander Povetkin (WBC 8, WBA 8)
8.) Kubrat Pulev (IBF 1, WBC 10)
9.) Agit Kabayel (WBO 8, IBF 3, WBC 6)
10.) Jarrell Miller (WBO 4, WBA 2]

Prospects
1.) Daniel DuBois
2.) Filip Hrgovic
3.) Joe Joyce
4.) Tom Schwarz
5.) Efe Ajagba

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

Happy New Year! That's a good list. Just curious, is that based more on who-beat-who (existing accomplishments) or a more subjective who-could-beat-who if they fought today? I prefer the latter when making my lists.

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

I’d say a mix between resume, and who I believe is best, or who would beat who. Prospect list is based off accomplishments, both pro and amateur, and based off of what I’ve seen of them as a pro so far.

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

I see where you are coming from with these rankings, how rankings should be done, even though because there can onky be so many fights, a lot of it is opinionated, but if you aren't going off just your personal opinions, but who's proven what, then I think this is a good list, because Joshua is the unified champ, Whyte is the most deserving challenger, has the Parker win. Miller is highly rated, but has also got a lot to prove.

Another good list, a lot of strong prospects, I personally, rate Joyce the top, I think whilst his age puts time pressure on him, it might also mean he has peaked earlier than fighters who are very young. I would definitely include Gorman, not suggesting you've forgottn him, and this is just my opinion, but I think Gorman is aheas of Dubois. At the moment, Ajagba is being badly matched, the only opponent who could have been worthwhile was Harper, and with that stunt he pulled, doing a runner, making history in a bad way, Ajagba is not getting good experience, he should fight Kevin Johnson next.

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

With that last spot, I thought about Gorman, Dycho, or Yoka. Those projections are more where I believe their ceiling is. Joyce is the furthest along of the group, same with Gorman, I just think the others will end up with better careers when it’s over. Ajagba is a complete projection, but he could be very special with that power.

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

You could very well be right, Dubois seems to be a very talented fighter. He looks like a monster, but he needs to be managed better, because he can't prove himself against poor opponents.

Looking forward to Uzcategui vs Plant?

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

I am. Plant is slick, and has some skills, but I wonder how he’ll take the power of Uzi. This should be a real test for both, to see where each is at. If Uzi blows him out, he should really push for a unification. If not, or if Plant somehow wins, then we get a whole new set of questions to be answered by both fighters. I personally think Uzi by KO, but we’ll see.

Re: Top 10 Divisional Rankins

Going to rank Light Heavyweight which to me is one of the best divisions in boxing right now since Ward's retirement and Kovalev's downslide. Criteria are resume and my assessment of how h2h matchups would go.

1. Eleider Alvarez
Absolutely smashed Kovalev in dominant fashion. What more to say then that.
2. Oleksandr Gvozdyk
Closed the show against Stevenson, despite getting dropped by Karpency I dont think hes as fragile as some think.
3. Dmitry Bivol
A very sound boxer whose not as dangerous as I once thought but incredibly competent. The one handed beatdown of Barrera was a high point.
4. Artur Beterbiev
His career best performance against Callum Johnson left some question marks about his durability. Hopefully now that hes signed with ESPN he can get some big fights against the other titlists.
5. Sergey Kovalev
Appears to be on the downswing but still a dangerous puncher. He was up on the cards before getting stopped showing he can still box at a high level. Questions about whether he lives the life or not.
6. Marcus Browne
Had a career best win against Badou Jack but looked somewhat unimpressive doing so. Fought a dirty fight and failed to close the show when Jacks vision was covered by his own blood.
7. Badou Jack
Was getting thoroughly outboxed even before the cut but has traditionally been a slow starter. Now that hes taken his second loss at the age of 35 its very possible hes on the downswing as well.
8. Sullivan Barrera
A thoroughly underrated fighter whose only losses came against elite level competition. Holds a solid win over Joe Smith Jr.
9. Joe Smith Jr
Scheduled to fight Dmitry Bivol on DAZN, Smith Jr is a somewhat limited boxer in a technical sense but possesses decent power.
10. Sven Fornling
His recent win over Karo Murat was impressive. Somewhat of a front runner but was able to gear the final bell.

Left out Adonis Stevenson as it looks unlikely at this point that he will return.
Yarde has fought subpar competition in my opinion so hes not ranked.
