That was a very, very fun fight.

It was also closer than my scorecard suggest. Alvarez landed a lot of clean, hard punches, especially when they were in the middle of the ring. I think he had Rios hurt briefly in the first round. In most of the rounds their volume landed was comparable, but the more telling short inside punches that were rocking Alvarez won Rios the rounds for me. Really should have been co-main, it was worth seeing the card just for this fight.
I don't know why female boxing is getting pushed so hard on DAZN. I have no problem with it as a sport, but I gotta be honest that I skipped the Shields fight. She is the best in a weight class that is extremely thin on talent, but I don't think she is a special boxer like Braekhus and Taylor, and I knew coming in to the fight there was basically a 100% chance she would win a decision. In general, female boxing is still not very developed when it comes to depth of talent, and the format makes it hard for finishes to occur. I think it should be on the card for development, but it shouldn't be placed over guaranteed action fights like this one.
