Amir Khan vs Samuel Vargas
After a layoff, following his devastating knockout defeat to Saul Alvarez, Amir Khan has his second comeback fight, having stopped disappointing Phil Lo Greco inside 40 seconds, earlier in the year.
Khan takes on Samuel Vargas, who seems very confident of victory, but also has a bad record at the level which Khan is supposed to belong at, as Danny Garcia and Errol Spence Jr, the fighters Khan considers his competitive rivals, both won every round against and stopped Vargas, with ease. Khan is criticised for his opposition, and expected to beat Vargas, easily.
Khan starts well, drops Vargas in round 2, but to the shock of almost everyone, Khan gets caught with a good right hand, late in the round, is dropped and hurt. Khan recovers well enough during the minute to drop Vargas again in round 3, but he fails to stop him. Khan outboxes Vargas round by round, the difference in levels is clear, despite the knockdown trading, but Khan does seem to slow down in the late rounds, as Vargas hits a tired Khan, with a couple of clean shots in round 10. Khan doesn't let Vargas finish too strongly, and wins a one sided fight, but fails to make a statement.
Khan wins a landslide unanimous decision, gets his second consecutive win, but fails to impress.
Vargas says at the post fight press conference, that Pacquiao would knock Khan out
