Prediction,

Should be a good fight.
This is an interesting one.

The winner of this fight might get a world title shot next.

Vargas should be the favourite, he has activity on his side, he is a former world champion, but Dulorme is decent, he beat Henry Lundy, did well agaisnt Terence Crawford, for a short time.

Vargas should be at his best, 29, experienced, and he is active, he lost to Pacquiao late in 2016, but he wasn't terrible in that fight, for 6 rounds, it was close, he was out of the ring for a year, but had a solid 10 round UD win over Aaron Herrera, and then in April this year, he fought 4 weight world champion, 5 time world champion, Adrien Broner, a 28 year old Broner, working hard, with a new trainer, at 144, and that fight was a draw, a lot of people had Vargas edging it, but a draw was a very fair result, with Broner doing the damage and landing the better shots overall, but Vargas thoroughly outworking him, able to outland Broner, hold up against Broner's power.

Dulorme is 28, he should be in his prime, but in this fight, he comes off 13 months out, following a loss, and Vargas, having fought Herrera a few months after Dulorme's last fight. Dulorme was good against Ugas, it was a terrible start, for the first 2 rounds, he was dominated, he was dropped twice, but he really swung the momentum in his favour, rallied to drop Ugas later in the fight, outslug and outwork a tiring Ugas, but in the end, because of 2 very questionable point deductions, he lost a UD, by 1 point on two cards, meaning had he not lost the points, he would have won.

I think Dulorme is the puncher, he has the much higher KO percentage, but Vargas is more durable, Dulorme has been down 7 times, been down in 3 fights, stopped twice. I don't think either fighter has a weight advantage.

I think Vargas will win this fight, I think the difference in activity will be a factor, and I think because of Vargas's resume, experience, and success, he is the better fighter, he has wins over Ali, DeMarco, Lopez, did well against Bradley, had him in big trouble late, gave Pacquiao problems, drew with Broner, Dulorme beat Lundy and Mayfield, not the same resume, and stopped against Crawford in 6, stopped by Abreu, and I think when you look at the fight, Vargas might be a notch up. This should be a very competitive fight, assuming Dulorme comes to win, even inactive, Dulorme, prepared, can still be a dangerous fighter, is still an opponent Vargas can't overlook.

I think Vargas wins a UD, I think he'll start well, outbox Dulorme for the first 3 or 4 rounds, I think Dulorme will have his moments, have a couple of good mid rounds, maybe even hurt Vargas once, but I think it will be Dulorme who fades down the stretch, maybe even gets dropped. I think Vargas wins, at least 115-112, probably wider, maybe even 118-109, but probably 116-111/117-110.

Champion97's picture

Faie result, I thought Vargas edged it, but the judges had it even, it was a great fight, Dulorme was the aggressor, landed the stand out shot in most rounds, started the fight very well, took the first couple of rounds clearly, but Vargas settled down, outworked Dulrome, landed more punches, and defended well. Both scored knockdowns, Vargas made the mistake of gunslinging with a puncher, and Dulorme, 2 rounds earlier, just exchanging, throwing himself into that right hand as he was swining his own, he was in big trouble, but he did well to get through that.

Second draw in a row for Jessie Vargas, not a terrible result, but I think the rematch should be next. Dulorme did much better than I thought he would, early on, ring rust was an issue for him at times, coming off 14 months out, but he did well early, moved his head, used his boxing brain, and Vargas was shadow boxing with most of his shots in the first 2 rounds, his judgement if distance was poor, but he came on, Vargas, was ahead, but late on, got caught, put down, and it was a draw.

Dulorme might not want the rematch, but it is a good option for him, it is his best chance of getting a world title shot, the Ugas rematch would be good as well, but because this fight was a draw, the rematch makes sense, and for both, it is the best option for their next fights, with the Silver title still vacant, coming through this fight without a win.

I thought Dulorme edged it, but great fight.
