Sorry I haven't been on in a while, I've been busy. I saw you added the Joshua two fight deal, who do you think he'll fight in those two fights? I think Povetkin is next but April is up in the air. Also are you ready for the Pacquiao fight next week?

Champion97's picture

No worries!
Lets hope it's Wilder! That's the fight we all want to see, and April 2019 at Wembley, perfect place, perfect time for it.
Should be great, great bill of fights as well, even if Bin Lu isn't ready, and it won't be a win for him, even if that is the case, it is a chance for him to introduce himself to boxing, learn, early, and Mthlane vs Wasseem should be very interesting, Mthlane could have too mucn experience, but I think this is Wasseem's time, we'll see, it's the real test for Wasseem. I think Pacquiao should be retired, he's 39, 23 years as a pro, 8 losses, knocked down 6 times, out, 3 times, he is shot, Matthysse is past his best, but he is not as far past his best as Pacquiao is, even if Pacquiao was a class above Matthysse prime against prime, I think Pacquiao being 4 years older, having a lot more miles, mentally being in a bad place for a boxer, being a year inactive, and most of all, being in against a guy who is gifted with frightening power, there is no way Pacquiao can take Matthysse's best shots, and I think when Pacquiao is static, when Matthysse can land that right hand, bang, Pacquiao is going to sleep.

You?

Do you think Joshua is ducking Wilder, a lot of people are saying that is the case.

I'm nervous for Pacquiao, I think he should retire and this is too dangerous of a fight. Matthysse is past it too but far less then Pacquiao. If this was anywhere from pre 2017 Pacquiao would beat Matthysse. Hopefully he retires after.

No, I think he intends to fight Wilder in 2019.

Would you like to make predictions for this month's fights?

I think so too.

I'll make a couple predictions. Matthysse by 8 round stoppage and Usyk beats Gassiev by SD.

How do you think Usyk vs Gassiev will go?

Champion97's picture

It is up to you pal, but if you want to win you might want to give all the fights at least a guess, because there is no gamble, and you can only just not earn any more points, but if you get it right, you get points.

Here is my prediction analysis which I wrote yesterday,
http://www.eyeonthering.com/comment/19673#comment-19673

Tyson Fury fighting a guy who lost his last fight, got stopped by Kevin Johnson (that's a 38 year old Joshnson who had 8 losses after he had lost to Pulev), knocked out in one round by Ruslan Chagaev (and a 36 year old Chagaev who was on the decline), and was at least 6 points behind against Klitschko after 5 before getting stopped in 6, is that tough enough opposition for the former heavyweight world champion who has already had his gimme?, I don't think so. To be fair though, Wlad was declining very slowly and was still the best heavyweight at that point, in 2013, Pianeta's last opponent seems like a good fighter, and he does have a victory over Duhaphas, also, he is 6 years younger, about half a foot taller, and should be much stronger than Seferi, so Pianeta is not a bum, but still, I just don't think it's much of a step up.

I've been a bit busy to watch the other fights I'll just make predictions for the big ones. Also Mikey garcia beats Easter by UD.

I saw that. It's not terrible, I would say it's a step up because that last guy was no threat to him and couldn't do anything.

Champion97's picture

Well like I say, it's up to you, but you are very unlikely to win when other people make predictions for all of them, maybe I need to take some of them out of the vault, to make it fairer. I will add that.

Ok, but what can Pianeta do? Not saying Pianeta isn't better than Seferi, in terms of history, levels, he seems a class above, but in terms of timing, he's only slightly better I think, I know he's younger than Seferi, but Seferi had never been knocked out, Pianete has 3 times, and by Chagaev and Johnson, not Wilder/Joshua punchers, Johnson, not really a puncher, under 60% KO percentages, so I don't think Pianeta is durable, no shame in getting stopped by Klitschko in 6, but he didn't really contribute anything to that fight other than enough guts to get as far as he did in such a one sided fight, a mismatch basically. Pianeta isn't simply not good at all, he has good wins, Oliver McCall, Frans Botha, these are guys with world level experience, and I'm not sure Botha was too far past prime at that point, but McCall must have been right at the end of his career almost, and Matt Skelton, good win, at Eurpoean level, but I think beating Skelton, beating Bacurin as well, these are guys any world level fighter should beat. To be fair, Johann Duhaphas, Albert Sosnowski, a bum doesn't beat these guys, but timing is important in boxing, and Pianeta has lost 3 of his last 7, I just don't think it is a real challenge, and Fury should be taking on a challenge.

Sounds good. I'm excited for all these fights coming up

Probably not much in my opinion. If he got knocked out by Kevin Johnson, there's a reason why he probalby won't do much better against Fury. He did beat Botha and Mcall, but it looked like they were past their prime. The reason I don't think Fury is stepping up too much is because they don't feel like last performance was great so they want him to get another fight that's not too tough.

I'm getting back into scoring the old fights, any new fights that you added that I should check out?

Champion97's picture

Me too, Usyk vs Gassiev has to be top of my list, same for you?

Good point, but the facts are, it was easy, he got hit literally once, he won every round, wasn't challenged, I would agree with you, if Fury had made mistakes, been made to pay by Seferi, then I would agree, fight a slightly better opponent, but no, I think when you mess a guy around, make him quit after 4 rounds of the mismatch, if you are ever going to get anywhere near world level again, don't step up slightly in your next fight, step up a lot, fight someone who is good enough to probably take you past 8 rounds, fight an opponent who it is hard for you to win every round against, so not Pianeta. To be fair, Pianete might rise to the occasion, I just found out from BoxRec that Klitschko said Pianeta had a lot of power, which is interesting, and Pianeta does have experience, 33, not old, 6'5, quite tall, this should be a bit harder for Fury than the Seferi fight, but I still think Fury should be fighting a slightly better opponent than Pianeta.
