John Ruiz vs. Nikolai Valuev I
Russian giant Nikolay Valuev becomes the tallest and heaviest champion in boxing history when he wrests the WBA Heavyweight title from John Ruiz with a debatable majority decision in Germany. After the bout, Ruiz's notorious trainer Norman Stone attempts to physically retake the title belt and gets into a brawl with one of the new champion's corner men. |

Re: John Ruiz vs. Nikolai Valuev I
So many talented HWs like Virchis or Bidenko never got the opportunity to fight top guys and exploit their potential, while Nikolai Valuev got all the chances to prove himself thanks to Don King who tried really hard to promote him as the Andre the Giant type of attraction.
