More:

Undefeated junior welterweights and New York rivals collide when WBO Super Lightweight Champion Miguel Cotto takes on brash talker Paulie Malignaggi on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. Malignaggi backs up his talk with a good fight but gets knocked down in round two and suffers a broken cheekbone. Badly swollen all over the face, Malignaggi makes it to the final bell but loses a unanimous decision.

Great performance from both fighters!
I thought Cotto was fantastic in this fight, used that power he has, in both hands, boxed with such patience, such method, but when he did find the right time to let his hands go, he landed clean, and earned the rounds.
This was Malignaggi's first meaningful fight I believe, also his first loss. In his home town, being the guy who gets booed by the crowd, having not experienced anything like this before, Malignaggi was tested big time. I thought Malignaggi was fantastic, I mean, his movement, his work rate, his accuracy, was great, and above all, this when we all found out that Malignaggi has the heart of a true warrior of the highest order, and has no quit in him. I think Malignaggi was simply not on Cotto's level, well, let's say broken down level (because I think 'a level below' doesn't do Malignaggi justice), but for what he was capable of, he did great, Cotto's ability to time him, push him back, overwhelm the less powerful fighter, was something Malignaggi never worked around, and he wasn't able to really reduce the effectiveness of the offence of Miguel Cotto, but, this wasn't an easy fight for Cotto, far from it, he lost some rounds, Malignaggi's footwork was a problem for Cotto, and so was his ability to land combinations, get in and out of range at the right time, and I didn't think Cotto, defensively, frustrated Malignaggi much at all.

This was the young Mallignaggi. the guy that could really move a pop and keep his opponent guessing. Now, I don't think Paullie did quite enought to warrant this being a close fight. I believe it was a little more one sided then you guys are getting too.. Have to address the elephant in the room paullie has not power at all and he has gotten thumped a few times, but that still doesn't mean he doesn't have skills or respect from me. he is a great analyst and I wish him the best. I also hope Cotto does well in his next fight. I just think its a bad thing that he stalled out Golovkin's career by turning down that fight. Not an unfair opinion by me, right?

No mate that's fair, understandable to, I disagree but that is what makes boxing so interesting.

I always found this fight intriguing, and a closer fight then I would have predicted.
