Prediction,

This will be a fascinating fight, a good test for a fantastic fighter, and a promising prospect.

Oleksandre Gvozdyk is a fantastic fighter, he had a great amateur career, like fellow Ukrainians, Lomachenko, Usyk, Gvozdyk bring phenomenal amateur experience to the pro game. Gvozdyk is unbeaten, in 13 fights, he isn't so experienced in the professional industry, but his career has looked great so far, with a resounding, one sided stoppage over Isaac Chilemba, and then an early stoppage against Yunieski Gonzalez. Gvozdyk suffered an early knockdown, not a heavy knockdown, but a knockdown nevertheless against Tommy Karpency, last year, on the undercard of Crawford vs Postol, he came back to win that fight in an impressive way. Oleksandr Gvozdyk does have a lot to prove, but he has done very well so far in his career, Craig Baker is a good opponent for him at this stage of his career. At 13-0, having beaten opponents of the level of Gonzalez, Karpency, Chilemba, Gvozdyk will want to step up his level of opposition, soon, but it doesn't hurt to keep busy, keep fighting, getting the bouts, rounds in, so having fights like this, which are unlikely to be difficult, maybe just a couple more of them, extend his record before stepping up a level.

Craig Baker is a decent fighter, he can punch, he has lost only to Edwin Rodriguez, he was stopped in three rounds, but Rodriguez has only ever lost Andre Ward and Thomas Williams Jr. Baker is coming off an eighth round stoppage over previously unbeaten contender Steve Lovett, he also defeated Umberto Savigne, a fighter who stopped Jeff Lacy. I don't think Baker is a great fighter, I don't believe he is anywhere near the level of the man he is about to face, Steve Lovett may have won all his previous fights, but against who?, and most of the opponents who Baker has defeated, have lost more than they've won, some have lost much, much more than they've won. I think for Baker, at 33, he doesn't have much time to prove himself at his best, if he aspires to be a great fighter, and his record doesn't do him justice, then this is a great opportunity for him. It isn't bad for any fighter, at the stage of their career that Craig Baker is at, to have a tough fight like this, let them find out how good a fighter they are.

I think Gvozdyk will win this fight, and I don't think it will be a long night for him, I think he'll stop Baker in two rounds. I think Gvozdyk will be wary of Baker's power in a tentative first round, I think he'll rarely be caught with anything, and never hurt or bothered by an occasional shot Baker might land, I think Gvozdyk will begin to dominate in the last minute of the first round. I think in round 2, Gvozdyk will be patient, but once he's really hurt an over matched, disorganised Baker, he'll for for the stoppage, finding it after one knockdown, two, maybe three, depending on a few things, but we'll before the scheduled end of round 2, he will stop Craig Baker, extending his record to 14-0.

I think for Oleksandre Gvozdyk, this is a 'stay busy' fight, I think it will be quite easy, I think he will benefit in that it is a fight, and any professional fight in itself provides a certain level of experience, he should get some minutes, a round or so's experience, stay sharp, win on a good bill, raise his profile, gain some fans, but aside from that, there isn't really anything Oleksandre Gvozdyk can get out of this fight, I don't think his opponent is up to standard, I think he'll get stopped early, and Gvozdyk won't be tested, challenged, or made to work. If Gvozdyk was to lose this fight, it would be terrible for his career, what would tell us about Gvozdyk?, well I think there would have to be some kind of factor there, but he does have a massive amount to lose, but if he was to be shocked by Craig Baker, his will, his motivation to be a world champion, how much he wants to succeed, would be tested. Gvozdyk is 30, so he doesn't have a great deal of time, he has no time to waste, no time to spare, I think at this point in his career, he will soon be as good as he is going to get, so if he is as talented as many of us think he is, he keeps improving, then there should be some element of urgency about his journey to fighting to a world title, obviously, most of this, is out of his control, but I think it is important he does everything he can to earn a shot. I hope, assuming Gvozdyk does the job in this fight like I think he will, that Gvozdyk manages to secure a world title eliminator, soon. For now, Gvozdyk has a task which is not far ahead of him, and for his future which many believe he will have, it is important he completes this task, that means, beat Craig Baker, and impress in doing it.

Looking forward to watching The Nail again, I see him dominating and stopping Baker.

My god what a right hand when he actually decided to commit.
