Vito Antuofermo vs. Marvin Hagler I
Fight Notes: Marvin Hagler's first shot at the Middleweight Championship is clouded in controversy when the judges declare a fifteen-round draw against Champion Vito Antuofermo. Fighting on the undercard of the bout between Wilfred Benitez and "Sugar" Ray Leonard, Hagler out boxes and bloodies Antuofermo but is denied the title by a decision that most feel is an injustice. |

Hagler on the end of a wrong decision. Wouldn't be the last time.

It's a easy fight to judge Marvin Hagler won without question.

Ridiculous judging!
Hagler won this one!, Vito did good, I mean, he gave it his all, but he wasn't on the same level as Marvin Hagler, I don't see this as any less than a 9-6 victory for Hagler, and I see 11-4, wider than I had it, this wasn't just a bad decision, it was terrible, 15 rounds, 15 rounds!, Hagler fought tooth and nail, not to mention putting his heart and soul into the preparation for the fight. Dalby Shirley, Hal Miller, idiots.

Not saying Antuofermo did do better than expected for those of us who thought Hagler would dominate and run straight through him. But that doesn't deserve a draw, unless you are drastically grading on a curve.

After 10 rounds, I think I only gave Vito one or two rounds. He did better down the stretch. Marvin took his foot off the gas. But he still won at least 10 rounds.

Re: Vito Antuofermo vs. Marvin Hagler I
To me this is one of the worst decisions I have seen. I don't think even Vito's mother could have had him winning as many rounds as Hagler. I had Hagler winning 8 of the first 10. He outboxed, outlanded, outpunched and outclassed him. No wonder Marvin was bitter about judges.
