Champion97's picture

Bellew outclassed Cleverly this time, Terry O'Connor is a bit of an idiot, that should not have been a split decision. I thought it was close after 8 rounds, but after that, in the last third, it was all Bellew. Cleverly isn't a real cruiserweight, Bellew is, in fact, he is a big cruiserweight, and Cleverly may have weighed in at the same weight as Bellew, it may have been all muscle, but unnatural, irrationally built muscle, is always a mistake, too much muscle tires a fighter out, and that was what happened to Cleverly, after 8 rounds, he had nothing left, and the naturally bigger man took over the fight, but Cleverly, some chin, some heart, to stand there, refuse to take a knee, the everything on the chin, and fire back, getting the better of no exchanges, but landing the odd glove on Bellew which let him know he wasn't going to get to get him out there at that rate.

Many didn't like this fight, but I thought it was very interesting, Cleverly boxed well, in terms of using his experience, using his speed, skill, but I think some of his movement was unnecessary, whereas Bellew, he wasted nothing, he got out worked by Cleverly at times, and Cleverly's defensive ability was good, he even succeeded with Mayweather esc tactics a few times, but Bellew was able to catch him on the counter, control the pace, use his jab, push Cleverly onto the back foot, and I think Bellew won, ultimately, very comfortably.
