Champion97's picture

That was some fight, I thought Barrera was really hurt when he got dropped early, but he did very well to come back from that, nkt only get the better of the exchanges, but score a return knockdown. That referee was poor, I mean, it is so annoying when referees buy the staged agony from the fighters, they will try to get a point docked from their opponent, of course they will, but you don't expect a referee to be stupid enough to actually take a point, and what a clown, just as you can't score a round, 11-9, you can't, as a referee, take 3 points from a fighter, what he did, was he took the first two, far too hastily, he didn't really pay attention to what was going on in the fight, there were no official warnings, pathetic refereeing.

I thought that was a great performance from Barrera, he came through adversity, the knockdown, that nasty cut, and in against a guy who he knew could hurt him, he stayed clam under the pressure, and applied his superior skills. Valera boxed very well early on, but as the rounds were going on, he was moving well, defending well, but not only was he rarely responding with anything, but his footwork was wasteful, jumping about, moving too much at obvious times, it's stupid, especially when you are losing the fight. I think Barrera hurt Valera to the body many times, he couldn't really capitalise to the point in which Valera was in big trouble, but he burt his opponent, and became quite dominant at a certain point in the fight, I would say, and that uppercut was fantastic, picking his spots, working in spurts, not taking the bait when Valera tried to draw him in, great display of boxing skill, and experience, Valera was tough, took a lot of shots very well, but just was simply, I think a level below his opponent in this fight.
