Prediction,

Great match up!

I like this fight, battle of the unbeatens, always good to see.

Garcia is 26, Chesseman is 23, so Garcia is much closer to his prime, is 28-0, should face the ultimate test of his career, soon, whereas Cheeseman has more time, is still learning, improving, has had 15 fights, not a lot. Despite being further behind in his career, Cheeseman has more of a reputation, mostly because British boxing gets so much more promotion than Spanish boxing.

Garcia has had almost double the fights, done over double the rounds, you could argue he has had the higher level fights in the sense that he has fought for his continent, but Cheeseman has been matched better, been put in against Carson Jones, a veteran who is limited but somewhat dangerous, and he has had international title fights himself.

There is no record of Garcia's amateur career on BoxRec, Cheeseman has an amateur record of 50-11, fought in a Youth world tournament, and a British tournament, but didn't fight in any proper world tournaments, didn't have that much of an amateur career.

Cheeseman has 60% KOs, can punch a bit, not really a power puncher, but has some power, and is a good volume puncher, good pressure fighter. Garcia has 46% KOs, it is highly likely Cheeseman has more power than Garcia.

I think this is more or less a 50/50 fight, I think Garcia is more experienced overall, but Cheeseman has made better progress.

I think Cheeseman might have the edge in this fight, but I wouldn't be surprised if Garcia beat him.

I think Cheeseman wins, but close.

Phenomenal performance from Garcia. Cheeseman has nothing to be ashamed of, went out on his shield at the end, tried his best.

Matchroom's picture

Cheeseman should seriously consider another career after that beating. I fear for his long term health, and that is the kind of sustained beating that can take years off your life.

I agree mate. Cheeseman fights in an arrogant way imo, thinking he can just blast through opponents. I was big on Garcia for this fight, Cheeseman is just a good domestic fighter. There's still a decent career for him because he'll sell tickets with his style but he'll pay for it in later life if he continues to contest fights like that.

I also think Tony Simms should take some flak too. Cheeseman either doesn't listen to his trainer or Simms has let him believe he can just walk through opponents without a jab. Either way it was just a matter of time before he took a beating and let's be honest, he was very lucky he wasn't in with a bigger puncher.

It is a shame because there's no doubting he has the heart of a lion and it was tough to watch how distraught he was at the end. As I said, that's that arrogance thinking he was much better than he actually is and the shock of it all when it came to realisation.
