I think this fight should not be happening, Jean Pascal has not boxed himself into a real position for a rematch with Kovalev. I think Sergey will have been disappointed with getting this fight (especially seeing as he has already legitimately stopped him whilst being up 68-64 on all three scorecards), all Pascal has done since their fight is get a wafer thin unanimous decision over a limited, unknown fighter (who many thought actually won the fight), in no world has he earned a rematch. I think Pascal is immature, disrespectful, bitter, and deluded, and Freddie Roach is being foolish letting him walk through the gym doors, his two priorities should be Manny Pacquiao and his final fight, and Miguel Cotto's move down to Light Middleweight. I think Kovalev is within the top 5 best in fighters in the world, he is always humble, is a people's champion, he has been regarded as one of the best since, schooling Bernard Hopkins and rightly so, I think he will win this fight easily, I think he will embarrass Pascal, stopping him in round 5.

What an absolutely incredible performance from Sergey Kovalev!! Jean Pascal boxed much better than I thought he would, and without any doubt whatsoever, this was a case of Kovalev just being too good, with no element of Pascal being disappointing by his own standards. I can't criticise anything Kovalev does, he boxed beautifully, and at the same time, it was a brutal beat down that he displayed tonight against, well, the bully, Jean Pascal learned a valuable lesson in that ring, he deserved every punch he took. The jab of Kovalev was extremely accurate, and extremely forceful throughout, the way he jarred the head of Pascal right back was so impressive, and to land so many of them, he nullified the defence of Pascal, the right hand was great, whenever it missed, he always always perfected it by throwing it again, and landing it. The defence of Kovalev was brilliant, I think he would have used it more had he not ruined the rhythm of his opponent with his own offence. The left hook from Pascal was great when it landed, but he rarely had the chance to throw it, the pressure of Kovalev was immense, and with that accuracy on top of it, it is so hard for you to deal with that of you are the opponent. I noticed in the last 3 rounds that Kovalev was carrying Pascal, he wanted to punish him, he wanted him to feel the pain of his punches for a long time, I noticed something in round 7, (something the the commentators missed) Pascal caught Kovalev with a lovely left hook, it was probably the best punch Pascal had in him, and Kovalev just walked right through it, I think this knocked confidence out of Pascal. The work rate of Kovalev was great, he clearly has no stamina issues whatsoever, he seemed physically comfortable throughout. Sergey Kovalev put on a technically great display of boxing skills, and an explosive display of destructive fighting skills, and he proved he is a class act in the ring as well as a very dangerous fighter.
In terms of scoring, Kovalev dominated every single round. I think the only subjectivity in this fight was whether round five was scored a 10-8 round or not, I think it was a double credit round for Kovalev, I think so because Pascal looked weary and bothered throughout the whole round, he was waiting for the bell, I got the sense that Kovalev could have stopped him at any moment, Pascal had very little success, and he was virtually defenceless, I think the only way that wasn't a 10-8 round is if you as a judge do not score them, which is fair enough. I predicted Kovalev to stop Pascal in round 5, and that is the round I think he could quite easily have done the job.
Sergey Kovalev is in my opinion the only light heavyweight who can challenge Andre Ward, and I really hope that fight happens, I think both Ward and Kovalev want to fight each other, and have high levels of respect for each other. A lesson was learned in this fight, a valuable lesson taught by Sergey Kovalev, if you are bully, then you will go home a loser, if you are a gentleman, you go home a runner up, Jean Pascal (the guy who makes false accusations of racism) went hone a loser. I hope Adonis 'Chickenson' decides to push for the Kovalev fight. Adonis Stevenson is a great champion in the ring, but has shown himself to be an aggressive person outside of the ring, I'm sure he has the guts to fight Kovalev, no question about that, but I have seen him asked about a Kovalev fight, and I have seem him dodge the question, and I'm not really sure why, maybe it's a lack of respect situation, I don't think he fancies the fight right now, and I'm not sure if the fight will ever happen, I see no reason why it shouldn't, but I'm not too confident it will, I just think it would be brilliant if the two teams could come to an agreement, not necessarily settle the grudge before they're in the ring, but calm it down, and gain some composure, that way, they can agree about the details, and get the fight sorted, maybe it's just wishful thinking, and I suppose, who needs Kovalev vs Stevenson when you have Ward vs Kovalev?, but I think Kovalev vs Stevenson would be so great for boxing.
